Sarah’s note: Yes, he is. He has numerous health conditions. His main diagnosis is septo-optic dysplasia. He can walk, but when they take him out he tends to be in the wheelchair.

Katie looks great there! I love it when she is looking completely normal “mom” mode. Without all the flash and makeup. She is such a beautiful woman. Harvey is just so sweet!

He is a BIG 5-year-old!! Poor kid. On top of being blind and having dysplasia, he’s overweight too.
Sarah’s note: Everything that you mention are conditions of the septo-optic dysplasia; they are all part of the same syndrome. It includes blindness and a hormone deficiency that makes children overweight. Here’s the definition:
‘Septo-optic dysplasia (SOD) (also known as de Morsier syndrome) is a congenital malformation syndrome manifested by hypoplasia (underdevelopment) of the optic nerve, hypopituitarism, and absence of the septum pellucidum (a midline part of the brain). In a severe case, this results in pituitary hormone deficiencies, blindness, and mental retardation. ‘

I’m beginning to think Peter is responsible for the weird baby names. Harvey has a perfectly normal first name, and a perfectly normal middle name – Katie named him herself. Then Peter came along, and the next babies get stuck with Junior and Princess…must be him!

Hope the paps treat him w/kindness. This world is hard enough for healthy people, you can imagine how it must be a kid or adult w/ health issues. I’m happy to see that they take him on outings and not keep him out of the public eye.

Katie and Peter like to have fun, but it’s times when you see them with their kids that you see what great parents they are.

I was in shock at comments I saw at just Jared. You can tell their kids or never been around a child that had a lot of health problems. I’ve seen Harvey a little on Katie and Peter & he seems like such a cute kid it’s sad what he has to go through. Katie seems like such a hands on mom

You so rarely see a celebrity out and about with their handicapped children. While I may think that Katie is a bit beyond the edge of reason in her public life, she is a role model of a mother when you see her like this. It gives me a new respect for her and her family.
But I still don’t get the name of that baby!

I read the comments @ Just Jared as well…I couldn’t believe what I was reading! I personally knew nothing of this family until I saw pictures here on this site (several months ago)…so it’s not like I am a fan of them.If you want to talk about someone’s orange skin, clothes, or whatever when it is an adult that makes thier own choices and can defend themselves…But, to pick on a child, especially a handicapped child…I don’t even have words to describe how awful that is. I can’t even imagine how unhappy they must be with thier own lives to go to such lengths as putting a child down. Wow…

Thank you all so much for making sure comments here are postives toward children. Yesterday on anther site they actually had people making fun of that adorable child, it really made me sad to see people insulting and making fun children…(especailly one that has a disablity.) Thank you all for having higher standards here at celebrity baby blog.

What beautiful pics of Katie and her gorgeous family. I have so much respect for Katie, being a Mummy to a special needs child myself. Harvey is gorgeous and I love seeing pics of them out and about. I know that some days I want to hide to get away from the hurtful stares and comments that people make, it would be so much more worse for Katie and Peter. Good on them for not giving in!

I think that is one of the more ‘mommy’ type moments I’ve seen her have. Yes, Katie can be quite outlandish and I’m sure Peter can be as well but, you can tell they genuinely care for their children.
Again, a lack of knowledge produces the effect of stupidity. Why people can’t learn something before opening their mouths is beyond me.

harvey is so cute and no one should be bothered if his got problems or not and im not even a teenager yet and im saying that. princess is bit of a werid name but they choose it so who cares she is as cute as a button. junior is the sweetest little boy ive ever seen. katie looks so georgous in her wedding dress. but i dont know whay to say about peter accept his funny as. it would make my dreams come true if i could meet you guys i never miss an episode of katie and peter the next chapter.
