Valerie Bertinelli is a ‘proud momma’ as son joins father on tour
Legendary rock group Van Halen announced on Monday that they will kick of their fall tour on September 27 with it’s newest member, guitarist Eddie Van Halen’s 16-year-old son Wolfgang Van Halen. Wolfgang’s biggest fan, his mother — actress Valerie Bertinelli — is thrilled that her son is fulfilling his dream.
That’s my job now to be the proud momma and I am.
However, like most mothers, Valerie is concerned about her teenage son being on the road with a band and all that goes with the rock and roll scene. But it doesn’t hurt that his father is one of his bandmates.
His father will be with him the entire time. I’ll be out there a lot. Ed is the best father Wolfie could have. It’s all going to be just fine.
Wolfgang, who is replacing bassist Michael Anthony, is aware of his Valerie’s concerns and even said he knew his mother would be "watching me closely."

Eddie Van Halen is the guitarist for the band–David Lee Roth is the lead singer.

I like how Valerie made a positive comment about her ex-husband as a father. It’s nice seeing divorced parents get along or at least keep it civil for their kids.

Um, what about SCHOOL??? Hello? He’s only 16!!! I think it sends the wrong message to have your kid out there on tour when he likely hasn’t finished high school yet. I’m just wondering about that…what’s the deal? Did he drop out or take the GED or is he going to have a tutor or something on the road? Has anyone mentioned this at all in any of the press conferences?

I love Valerie, and I’m totally stoked about Van Halen’s tour with Wolfie AND David Lee Roth. Valerie has her head on right and I’m sure Wolfgang will have tutors, like Tori Spelling and all the other celeb kids who have their own TV Shows, etc. before school is finished.

In addition to all the concerns mentioned above (I agree with all of them) what about HIS weight? He looks very overweight for 16 years old, especially in the ET video coverage I saw earlier this week. With weight issues running in the family (Valerie has had weight issues for years) and now that she is the spokesperson for Weight Watchers, I would hope that she puts nutrition on the “tour rider” as well.

Love Valerie! Very much looking forward to the Van Halen tour…. I think Valerie and Eddie are gonna look out for their son, and this will be an unbelievable experience for him. Rock on!!
