How fatherhood is ruining Matt Damon’s physique
If you’re watching the Bourne Ultimatum closely enough, you might be able to see Matt Damon’s waistline expanding as the movie progresses. But don’t blame craft services, blame his 14-month-old daughter Isabella. According to Matt, a desire to spend time with the new baby trumped any desire to train for the demanding role of Jason Bourne.
I really used to have no life outside movies. I’d work all day, go to the gym and go to sleep. Now I have a place to be so I come home after work…I’ve had the same personal trainer on all the Bourne films but once he left this time, that was it for me and working out because I wanted to get home to see my daughter before she went to sleep.
The consequences, jokes Matt, were dire.
Towards the end of filming they had to shoot around my belly. If you pay close attention you’ll see the zipper on my jacket creeping up and up. I had to keep that jacket on.
Isabella is the first child for Matt and his wife Luciana, who has a daughter — Alexia, 9 — from a previous relationship.

Maybe its just me. But it really bothers me that every interview he does, he never mentions Alexia. She is his step daughter, and he only mentions Isabella.
Anyone else?
Sarah’s note: He does mention her quite a bit from what I’ve seen. Off the top of my head, I saw him on a late night show a few weeks ago and he was talking about driving her to school.

That was funny! I’ll have to make note of that when I finally do see TBU.

Matt talks about Alexia quite a bit, and I don’t understand why it should bother you that he doesn’t mention her in every single interview. All he said here is he wanted to get home before his daughter went to sleep and I am sure that Isabella goes to sleep before Alexia so therefore if he gets home before Isabella goes to sleep he will also be able to see Alexia as well.

I agree kelli, he never talks about his step daughter, he always says his wife and daughter.
His step daughter lives with them too, she is part of the family he should remember that.

I agree – it is so important to acknowledge his stepdaughter. I watched an interview with him on Inside the Actor’s Studio and when asked what sound he loves,
and he said “my daughter’s laughing, her laugh.” His stepdaughter was there in the audience, so I wished he had included her in that response. He obviously seems like a loving father though, but I do agree on the importance of including his stepdaughter in his comments about being a father.

Dont worry Kelli, I’ve thought the same thing after readings many quotes from him.

One reason Matt appeared on Arthur was to impress Alexia – he’s mentioned “failing” at that in the past (tongue-in-cheek, which is very much Matt’s style). From everything I’ve read, he loves her very much and considers her his daughter. She’s the reason he & Luciana are based in Miami – he didn’t want to uproot Alexia from her school.

I’m sure he loves alexia, but truth of the matter is alexia has her own bio father who she knows and is in her life. Isabella is matt’s daughter, and I’m sure he is very excited talking about her. It’s not like matt raised alexia since she was born, she was bigger when he met her, and like I said she does have a dad in the picture, that’s a bit different than say seal who raised leni from day one and she knows no dad but seal.

Is this an update on a previous post?
I could swear I have read a post with almost identical quotes on here a month or so ago?
Sarah’s note: No, not an update. In his Entertainment Weekly interview (I think) he said a few things similar to this, and we did post excerpts from that.

I’ll like to have a better english to express my ideas in a correct way, but since almost everytime someone else post what I was thinking, this time I say I agree totally with gabriella’s comment
I love Matt Damon, and his beautiful family! he is one of my favourite actors, since I saw him in the Talented Mr. Ripley.

Wow! I actually did notice his weight fluxuations in the movie. Don’t worry Matt, you look good no matter what—go have fun with your girls!

Ladies isn’t it refreshing to hear a MAN talking about his growing midsection that is due to his child?! Just when I didn’t think I could possibly like Matt anymore……

I agree Gabriella. She’s his STEP daughter, and as much as they can be close I’m sure its different for him to have a bio daughter who doesn’t have another Dad.
