“When the pain hit the roof, I had the thought that in a matter of moments I was going to be sitting and holding my baby with a big fat smile on my face - a thought that seemed ridiculous to me at the time but I knew it was true. And there we were, moments later.”

Bob Irwin won’t be a star anytime soon

Shortly following the death of her father, Steve "The Crocodile Hunter" Irwin, 9-year-old Bindi Irwin vowed to follow in her father’s footsteps by promoting the discovery and protection of wildlife.  John Stainton, Bindi’s manager and an Irwin family friend, reveals that their focus is on Bindi’s TV career right now and that her brother, 3-year-old Bob, will not take part in the family business anytime soon.

There are no plans for Bob at the moment.

John says Bob will remain out of the spotlight, except for this December when he celebrates his fourth birthday.  He will be the center of attention at a party held at the Irwins’ Australia Zoo. Bindi celebrated her 9th birthday there in July.

For now Bindi will continue to shoot and promote her hit show, Bindi the Jungle Girl, which despite its popularity has received some criticism for its extensive usage of her late father’s video footage.  John dismisses the critics, saying,

It’s like asking should Blankety Blanks be taken off air because Graham Kennedy died. And should we stop seeing Elvis Presley movies because he died 30 years ago?

September 4 will be the one year anniversary of Steve’s death. To commemorate her dad and his legacy, Bindi will present a special television tribute called My Daddy the Crocodile Hunter on Sept. 1. However, on the actual anniversary of Steve’s death, Bindi and Bob will take part in what John says will be a quiet family affair.
