"I just LOVE him and love the fact that he has turned into such a wonderful actor, partner and father. Good for him. The pic with the two of them together just melts my heart. My hubby looks at me like that still and I treasure it because some women wish they could find a good man who will still look at them the same way they did years before."

Former Houston Astros first baseman Jeff Bagwell’s No. 5 jersey was retired on Sunday, August 26 during a pregame ceremony.  During his speech, Jeff spoke to his wife, Ericka, and daughters, Blake, 4, and Bryce, 6,  saying,

People say you have no idea about love until you have a family. I cansit here today and say that is absolutely true. I can’t express to youhow much you guys mean to me. You make my life a joy every single day.

Blake (left) and Bryce helped out during the ceremony by throwing out the first pitch to their dad.

tsk. tsk. tsk. the way those little girls are dressed . . .

  2. m Says:

Wow, what a wildly inappropriate shirts for his daughters! I have no idea who this person is but his daughters are six and four going on 25. I guess I am an old fuddy-duddy.

  3. IG Says:

I totally agree..those shirts are definitely not even remotely age appropriate!

  4. Kelly Says:

My thoughts, exactly! From the long spiral-curls to halter tops, to tight white pants, everything about their outfits are “wildly inappropriate!”

  5. megs Says:

I’m not an old fuddy-duddy and i think the samre thing. Why not let kids be kids and wear kids’ clothes? Why would you want to dress your kid in something appropriate for clubbing? Very weird. I’ll take Suri Cruise’s French babydoll dresses over these girls’ tight jeans and halter tops anyday.

  6. Stephanie Says:

m, I’m 25 and was thinking the same exact thing. Halter tops just do not look right on kids.

  7. Sarah Says:

I agree with all the comments. My first thought was, “gosh, little girls should not be dressed in sexy clothing!” I have two daughters as well and as long as there are pedophiles in the world, they will not be dressed this way.

  8. Lynn Says:

I think they are beautiful girls!

  9. Carrie Says:

Cute little girls though, either way!

  10. Sarah Says:

Gorgeous girls but Aiiiyaii at the way they are dressed.. it makes me cringe! They make halter tops that are more appropriate for little girls and those pants are just too I dunno… tight or something.

  11. Susan Says:

Didn’t notice the girls’ blouses but did wonder why Jeff is wearing a shirt made of Marie Antoinette’s curtains?

  12. Sue Says:

Wow. I’m glad I’m not the only one. I usually think people are overreacting but not this time. Those tops, tight jeans and hairstyles for such little girls creeps me out. And this is coming from someone who see nothing wrong with a cute two piece for a little girl.

  13. Lauren Says:

Are they 4 and 6, or 24 and 26? That’s the type of outfit I might wear for a night on the town, not as a preschooler. If this is how they’re dressed at this age, I can’t imagine what they’ll be dressed like as teenagers. Daddy’ll be sorry then.

  14. Aleah Says:

The girls are cute… but this is the kind of shirt I’m wearing on a night out, and I’m 27!

  15. Jordynn Says:

Thank you Lynn! I came onto this message board thinking that all the comments would be on how gorgeous those girls are, and am shocked that all anyone has to say is that their clothes are innapropriate. They are not parading around naked or anything, so chill out! There is absolutly nothing wrong with the jeans nor their hairstyles. Yes there are pedophiles in the world, but they pray on young kids anyway, whether or not they are wearing revealing clothes. I have 2 daughters myself, and I see nothing wrong with halter tops.
Anyway, I think the girls are absolutly adorable.

  16. Kat Says:

You know, I’ve seen tasteful halters on kids… I have a couple for my daughter that are from the Children’s Place and gymboree.

However, she only wears them in the hottest days of the summer when we’re spending the day at the park… and they certainly don’t look like those halters.

Those are pretty revealing halters… not as much for the younger one, but for the older.
either way… they are also too snug and pairing them with tight white jeans like that just doesn’t work for me.

the ones I have for my daughter are jersey knit style and really don’t seem much different from a tank top except that they have a halter style straps.

An appropriate halter covers a girl the same way a regular shirt would, just with the straps going around the neck.

Otherwise, it’s not appropriate for a child.

These girls look like little Britney Spears clones (from her better days).

I would never let my daughter leave the house like that…. and my husband would be even more restrictive.

  17. devilsadvocate Says:

I guess I don’t see why everyone’s freaking out about the girls outfits. I’d much rather see those shirts on girls of that age than teenagers, when the teenagers will have more chances for wardrobe malfunctions.

Then again (and not that anybody said this in above comments) I don’t subscribe to the theory if you let them start young they’ll continue when they get older. I subscribe to the theory that if you do it when they’re little they’ll get it out of their systems and it won’t be such a big deal when they’re in their teen years. At least, that’s how it’s been in my experience.

  18. preesi Says:

Maybe they dress em like that cause they gave em boys names

  19. Alyssa Says:

Really cute little girls! Dont like how they are dressed.

Makes me wonder though if they wanted boys lol
Blake and Bryce ? Aren’t those boys names? Oh well they are still very cute =) Just dont like the names for them.

  20. Niki Says:

WOW you guys are uptight. I see nothing wrong with the girls clothes. The halter tomps show nothing but shoulders!! No chest, butt, or legs showing. What the hell is the problem?? The outfits are Western themed. When I was a little girl (I’m 23) I LOVED dressing up. My mom picked her battles and let me. That doesn’t mean she let me go out looking like a stripper. I didn’t grow up to be a stripper either. I was a well behaved teen and I am now a responsible adult. (with an extroardinary sense of fashion I might add) Chances are, those little girls look up to their mother, they see her dress up and get ready and they want to. Those out fits are adorable in my oppinion. I don’t see the problem. Unless you’re muslim or something.

  21. Carrie Says:

    Susan.. You are funny! HA

  22. Tara Says:

I was thinking the shirts were awful too! I only looked at the comments to see if others said anything. I’m glad I’m not the only one. Not age appropriate at all!

  23. FC Says:

I was shocked at the tops and not so much the jeans. I’ve seen little girls wear jeans like that, just not with halter tops like that. I know they have halter tops for little girls and such, but I don’t know, the halter tops they have on–the style of the neckline, more so– just seems way too mature for them. That’s just me.

  24. C Says:

I see nothing wrong with halter tops for little girls. They wear less at the beach anyway. I do think that these halter tops are inappropriate though. I have never seen any cut this way before. The top on Bryce looks too small IMO. Beautiful girls either way.

  25. Ginger Says:

Funny, the first think I noticed was that the two Girls were named Bryce and Blake. It bothers me to no end why folks give girls boys names. That hard up for…a boy? And the fact he’s a sports figure solidifies this notion.

The two look exactly like two little Fergies, LOL!

  26. brannon Says:

Love their names. Adorable girls. Clothing – absolutley AWFUL! They look like tiny strippers. I teach fifth grade at a public school and these tops would not be allowed. I much prefer classy to trashy.

  27. valerie Says:

I agree that the tops are inappropriate. So much gets communicated through clothing. It is sad that clothes like this exist for girls- same thing with t-shirts with provocative slogans on them. It can be dangerous to be naive with these issues in the world we live in. Why take a chance?

  28. Jas Says:

I think the halter tops are inappropriate. I think thats the wrong with today kids…everyone wants to dress them up like mini adults. Halter tops is not something children should be wearing.

  29. Poptart Says:

Their mom is a former beauty queen from Texas so I’m not surprised to see these girls in tops that are too grown up for them.

I’m sorry but they look like made up dolls. I see beauty pageants in their future.

  30. Danielle Says:

Like my husband just said, they’re not you’re kids, what do you all care? If their boobs were sticking out thats one thing but only their shoulders are showing. If the straps were just straight up, would there be such a fuss?

  31. halifaxhoney Says:

I think that the outfits are cute! I guess I’m way at the other side. I hate it when parents dress their kids in clothes that has cartoon characters on them or Disney clothing, but that’s just how I feel.

  32. gigi Says:

Those cloths the kids were wearing, are simply wrong. what kind of mom would put there beautiful kids in trashing outfits like that.

  33. Top Says:

The girls are beautiful. I don’t think there is anything inappropriate about the outfits. I think the older girl could use a larger size but other than that the outfits are adorable.
I’m pretty sure a pedophile would look at little girls regardless of what they were wearing. They are sick people, it’s not the little girls clothes that make them that may, it is their sick twiasted minds.

  34. Sandi... Says:

I think they look completely adorable:)

  35. melanie Says:

I think they are as cute as they want to be. It’s not like they are showing off anything. I mean there is nothing to show off. Too many people here have a sick mentality (imo) to even suggest that little girls this age can possibly look sexual. gross. and one person (a teacher, no less) said they look like strippers. ok. lovely.

  36. Heather Says:

It’s not that the people commenting here have sick minds…
we are saying that it is necessary to do all you can to protect children from people in our society who have sick minds. Anyway, there are even worse examples out there. How many shirts are there in the stores with phrases such as “naughty” on them…. this is awful and should not be allowed.

  37. emily Says:

This cracks me up. When Nicole Richie was wearing that gray dress in NYC where you could see not just her nipples but her entire areolas, the board was full of people applauding her style and calling any nay-sayers prudes. “It’s just a breast” was repeated over and over.

Now you’ve got two Houstonian little girls, ages 4 and 6 (not 10 or 12 or 16) wearing very Texan jeans with very Texan hair, and people are going on and on about it. (I’m from Houston, btw). It’s how half of us dress. To the one who said those are only worn on really hot days, welcome to Houston 300 days of the year. Minute Maid Park has a retracting roof that they leave open on most good weather days.

The girls look precious and Bagwell looks like a doting dad in the photo.
