Fantasia Barrino’s daughter proud of her Broadway performance
Fantasia Barrino has not only won over Broadway fans as Celie in TheColor Purple, but has found a new fan in daughter Zion, 6, too. Worried that Zion would not understand theshow, the singer, 23, tried to explain she was acting to her and wassurprised by her daughter’s reaction afterwards.
I didn’t think she was going to get it. I sat her down and tried totell her, ‘Mommy’s not really being hit, Mommy’s just acting.’ Afterthe show, she told me, ‘Mommy, you are beautiful.’ She’s very proud ofwhat Mommy’s doing, and that makes me very happy.

I’m always surprised at how much children really ‘get’. Zion sounds like a sweet little girl.

That’s sweet. I guess kids really know more than we give them credit for.
