Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin’s daughter, Bindi introduces Bindi Wear

Bindi Irwin, 9, just announced the introduction of her new children’s clothing line, Bindi Wear International Fashion Line, as the anniversary of her father’s, Crocodile Hunter’s Steve Irwin, untimely death approaches on September 4.
Bindi said today it was her mission to carry on her father’s environmental message.
Her clothing line will include T-shirts, jumpers, swimwear, sleepwear, hats, bags and shoes all of which will carry some type of environmental message. Even the tags and soles of the shoes will be made from recycled products and every bit of her profits earned from the clothing line will be used to support Australia Zoo’s conservation programs. Bindi explains,
They are clothes with a message. We’re getting just further and further away from animals. If we keep making them into boots, bags and belts what are we going to be left with?
The Bindi fashion line has created 130 pieces for spring/summer 2008. Fashion designers Melanie Finger and Palmina Martin, designed the collection catering to newborns to 10-year-olds. The clothing line will be targeted to medium to high-end department stores and boutiques.
Bindi has been working hard and following in her father’s footsteps to keep messages of environmental awareness strong since he was killed on September 4, 2006 while filming stingrays on the Great Barrier Reef. Bindi’s mother is Terri Irwin and she also has a little brother Bob, 3.

Is the clothing line going to be released in the US or just in Australia? I’d certainly wear it.

I really hope that my daughters will look up to Bindi as a role model when they get a little older. She’s an amazing little girl!

I know her Mom will do what’s best for her, but I hope the media and possible stress doesn’t push her away from her love of animals.

I don’t know how i feel about Bindi Irwin, she’s a very smart and beautiful young lady, isn’t it too much for this young child the death of her dad her career and how a clothing line, im just saying …..

That’s cool Bindi has her own clothing line, she’s just following in the tradition started by the Olsen twins, but I too hope that it doesn’t take away from her conservation awareness efforts.
Also speaking of conservation and clothes, are the clothing items she’s promoting ecologically sound, made from recycled and/or organic fibers and what not?
If not, it could be something to consider for the future. Here’s the green guide which lists other organic & earth friendly children’s clothes.

I think her father must be looking down on her with such pride. I wish all children could take a lesson from her and help their parents realize what a precarious state our earth and its animals are in.
