Jude Law arrested for assaulting photographer
Police arrested Jude Law, 34, on Tuesday after the actor allegedly assaulted a photographer outside his London home. The unnamed man claimed he suffered mild injuries after Jude tried to wrestle his camera away. Jude accused the photographer of “being a pedophile” for attempting to take photos of his children. The photographer denied taking photos of Jude and his family.
I was at a bus stop near Jude’s house but I wasn’t taking pictures of him. My camera was still in the bag. He was by himself when he recognized me and started accusing me of being a pedophile and that all I wanted to do was take pictures of his children. I was shocked at his behavior.
Police took Jude to a nearby police station for suspicion of causing bodily harm, but he was later released on bail. No word if Jude’s children, Rafferty, 10, Iris, 7, and Rudy, 4, witnessed the altercation. Jude’s lawyer released this statement:
I can confirm that Jude Law voluntarily attended Marylebone Police Station yesterday following an alleged incident outside his house earlier in the day. Mr. Law provided the police with a statement regarding his denials of allegations by a ‘paparazzi’ photographer against him and made his own allegations concerning the photographer. Jude has the utmost respect for the police and whilst this is an ongoing matter no further comment will be made.

Poor Jude! He didn’t deserve to be punished just for being a father. I don’t have kids yet, but when I do, I know I’ll be hyper-mama-bear protective; I would’ve attacked that guy too. If someone followed my kids around like that, oogling them, snapping photos of them, I would definitely give into primal instinct. He says, “all I wanted to do was take pictures of his children”? Is he stupid? Is he honestly “shocked at his behavior”? Obviously that paparazzo isn’t a father.
I may enjoy seeing photos of celebs and their children, but there are limits. As long as they’re okay with it (Jude obviously wasn’t) and as long as the papparazzi aren’t too up in their faces. I remember Brad once nicely requested that they use longer lenses. Obviously this one pushed Jude to the edge and got what was coming.
This reminds me of when Bjork attacked a woman at an airport over her son. (You can find that video on YouTube.)

I believe it was Jude accusing the photographer of wanting to take photos of his children, not the photographer saying “all I wanted to do was take pictures of his children.” That would be beyond creepy. I’m still Team Jude here, though. These guys are creeps. Only a few steps away from pedophiles, in my opinion. I mean, really. I’m sure some of these photographers have kids. Would it be alright for some random schmo to follow THEIR kids around with cameras? Likely not. In fact, THOSE people would likely be arrested. Why is this not the same for celebrities’ children?

I think it is very strange to compare photgraphers to pedophiles. They are taking the photos because it is their job and they make money of them. If we didn’t watch the photos, they would not be worth anything and they wouldn’t be made.

To take photos at summer camps and schools now all parents have to sign forms to say that their child can be photographed but ‘paps’ can just take photos of whoever they want. Don’t get me wrong i love seeing pics of celebs kids and i know someone has to take those pics but sometimes paps go too far. If they can shove their lense in a kids face then i believe Jude can shove the pap. It sounds as though Jude was good with the police so i don’t blame him at all.

Totally agree with you, Nausicaa.
but anyway, celebrity or not, Jude is a father and he is just protecting his kids.
I’m an hyper protective mom and I know maybe I would have a similar reaction if I see someone wating for me to have pictures of my daughter…well that will never happen because I’m not a celebrity
Maybe there are some celebrities that are ok with the paparazzi, or as Brad that he asks to use longer lenses, but not all people are the same, and I think the paparazzi should respect the celebrities that doesn’t want their kids to be photograph.

I’m on Jude’s side, too. If the photographer wasn’t filming, as he claims, then from where do those pictures of Jude shoving the camera lens come? Jude’s taking a protective stance. GO, JUDE!
