New photos of Prince Hisahito of Japan
New photos of Prince Hisahito of Japan has been released by the Imperial Household Agency. The prince, who is the son of Prince Akishino and Princess Kiko will turn one tomorrow. The future heir to the Chrysanthemum Throne and third in line to the throne celebrated his first birthday with his family when Princess Kiko took her son to the Palace to meet his grandparents, the Emperor and Empress of Japan. Prince Hisahito was the first male heir to be born to the Japanese imperial family to be born in 41 years. The couple also have two daughters, Princesses Mako, 16 next month, and Kako, 12 1/2.
The Royal Household released some pictures (images from Hello and Profimedia) and also some details: Hisahito now weighs 9,285 grams and is 75 centimeters tall and has several teeth.
The prince can now express his feelings in various ways. He laughs when his family or other people speak to him and imitates other people’s actions little by little. The prince is interested in things that make sounds and he touches the keyboard of a piano and beats drums and a xylophone with his elder sisters Princess Mako and Princess Kako. He also likes picture books.

Has it been one year already? Boy, that went fast. I remember when they were waiting for him to be born and how excited Japan was and everyone was pretty sure it was a boy.

He’s adorable! There is another new photo of Prince Hisahito on his birthday, with mom Princess Kiko. http://news.goo.ne.jp/picture/kyodo/nation/CO2007090601000216.html (Japanese)
Could you please add this photo on CBB? It’s so beautiful!
Prince Hisahito looks so much like his older sister Mako. He goes by Yu-chan (pronounce like “YOU-chan”) in the family, it’s so cute!

What a gorgeous child. He’s lovely, and they must all dote on him. Still I can’t help but feel slighted on Princess Aiko’s behalf. Japan came *this* close to accepting that her gender should make no difference to her right to inherit the throne…and then this adorable baby boy’s birth allowed them to wipe off their brows and push the issue back into the closet. I find it kind of sad.

Aw he’s such a cute and happy little boy. And I agree, he does resemble his mother.
Anyway though, I think I remember several years ago a little girl being born to the Japanese royal family, who only started kindergarten maybe two years ago. Now would that have been this little guy’s cousin, or his sister who’s now 10 already?

Oh my! I can’t believe it’s been a year! I think I remember them talking about changing the law so a female could take over if no son was to be born. Something along those lines anyhow. Either way, Happy Birthday little Prince!

He seems like such a ham in front of the camera in the first photo of him. Love the smile and expression on his face in the second one. He’s adorable!

Awww, he’s so cute! Anyone know where to buy those sweet little blue dungarees?

Speaking of Princess Aiko, I just an article online that says the poor girl has autism, as well as her mother Masako having issues with depression. (With that being the case, I don’t know if Aiko could’ve functioned very well as Empress of Japan, had the law been passed.)
Hopefully little Prince Hisahito will be fine and can serve his duties well, when his time comes in the distant future.

Ahhhhhh…what an adorable little emperor-to-be! Plus, he has two much older, doting sisters at his beck-n-call. Not a bad life, I’d say. Cute.

I happen to be in Japan a couple of years ago. I was in the train station when suddenly the prince and princes of Japan just happen to be passing by. I took the opportunity to take a picture of them. I was so lucky to be in the right place at the right time. I can’t believe I have a picture of them!
