Australian Democrats Senator Natasha Stott Despoja expecting second child
Australian Democrats Senator Natasha Stott Despoja, 38, and husband Ian Smith were excited to announce that they are four months along with their second child. The news comes almost 12 months after Natasha had emergency surgery for an ectopic pregnancy. The couple have a little boy, Conrad, 2, and are thrilled to be adding to their growing family.
We were dearly hoping we could have another child but obviously, especially after major surgery last year, we realized it wasn’t a certainty.
The baby is due in March — four months before Natasha’s parliamentary term ends. She has been a Democrat senator for South Australia since November 1995. She is the youngest woman ever elected to the Parliament of Australia.
