Introducing John Edward Thomas Moynahan
Actress Bridget Moynahan, 36, introduces her and Patriots quarterback Tom Brady’s son John Edward Thomas, 5 weeks on Thursday, in the current issue of OK! magazine. The shoot was done this past weekend at Bridget’s home.

Bridget donated the proceeds from sale of the photos to the Friedreich’s Ataxia Research Alliance [FARA], as well as the Epidermolysis Bullosa Medical Research Foundation, as her friends have children afflicted by the disorder and disease.

I feel for Bridget-she looks kind of sad and wistful in that first picture. I really hope she can find someone who will be there for her. She seems like she has been through a lot! I really hope she finds happiness! It sucks when a guy moves on so quickly from a relationship in real life- let alone someone in the public eye. She seems like a strong girl and I wish her well.

Thank God he is has his Dad’s looks! Here is hoping he is his father’s class! This move to be on the cover of OK! is really poor IMO. Bridget could have donated 100,000 any time to any of those charities. This is not about the money, it is all about her continuing to exploit her situation to get her name in the paper. Pretty insecure woman if you ask me.
Get over him Bridget! He is not coming back to you, but he will be coming for his son with Gisele by his side. So get over it!

Its nice that a lot of celebrities are now donating the money they receive for posing in these magazines to charity. Hopefully it will bring more awareness to these charities and get them the funding they need to find cures.

He’s such a cutie! I can see his father in him but he looks more like his mom to me. I think it’s smart of her to do the layout and give the money to charity, IMO it’s much better knowing the child is getting a break from the press and some less fortunate people are benefiting from it.
That being said, does anyone know if OK! is really going with the cover they’re running? I find that really disrespectful to Bridget and John and makes her out to be something she’s not, tacky. I don’t like what it implies and I like even less the unwarranted backlash she’s going to catch from it.

I think he is absolutely adorable! She is a very pretty lady as well. I feel bad for Tom Brady because I don’t think he knows just how much he is missing. I hope Gisele is worth it. I agree with the point made that it was better for her to release these pictures rather than be hounded every time she steps out with her son. I have to ask. Does anyone know if Tom has seen his child since the birth? Has Bridget allowed Gisele to visit? (I heard that somewhere) What is Tom’ family’s position here? If that were my grandson I would be dying to hold onto him!

I have always had the utmost sympathy for Bridget with this whole situation, but I think this is in poor taste. Donating the money to charity is fine but the title on the cover of OK is tacky and it makes her seem vengeful and not classy which I thought she was. A real disappointment- the baby is, of course, adorable and Bridget looks gorgeous as usual but my respect for her is much less.
Sarah’s note: The title has nothing to do with her though. OK! came up with it and it was their choice to run it. All Bridget approved was the photos. I hope no one is basing anything off the title as it has nothing to do with her or Tom. She was going to do an interview, but instead chose not to as silence on the situation seems to be the best thing to do.

Wow, what a cover line. I’ve respected how Bridget has handled this situation so far, and I don’t like Tom professionally or personally, but show some class. That is low.

The words on the cover are AWFUL absolutely disgusting!!
“LIFE WITHOUT DADDY Bridget Moynahan stands strong as a new mom despite losing Tom to model Gisele.”
They are trying to sell magazines, but, I am very sad that they decided that was the best way to caption the cover story. Instead of the caption being a happy note about the joy of motherhood they focused on the negative. Gisele’s name should certainly not be on the cover. She has nothing to do with this beautiful baby and has nothing to do with his introduction to the world. I wonder if Bridget had any input at all into what the cover would say. As a business savvy person, knowing how the tabloids work, I certainly would have had a clause in the contract about what was said in the article and especially the cover. I feel very sad for the baby. As a mother, I would not want that negatively spun devastating introduction to the world for my child.

I don’t believe that the reason why Tom isn’t spending as much time with is son as he would like is because of his contractual obligation to the Patriots not because of Gisele. It doesn’t help that he lives on the East Coast and she lives on the West Coast. I do believe that she not only chose to live in CA because of family and friends, but because she wanted to get away from Tom. (I can’t blame her either, but it isn’t about her anymore. She needs to consider whats best for John.) Afterall, most of her family lives on the East Coast anyway in, of all places, Massachusetts. Not a very good choice when it comes to having Tom in his son’s life. It makes me feel that he is getting the raw end of the deal in a way. She does have a show to do eventually in LA, which is great because she is moving on with her career, but why do so many people feel that Tom should end his or be traded to a CA team, to be at her back and call? It doesn’t seem fair. It is much easier for her to put her career on hold then it is for him. You can act for a lifetime, but you can only play football until your body says no more. I feel that she is making it harder on him, John and herself then it needs to be. I hope that in the future they are able to come together as amicably as possile so that the both of them can be in John’s life on a regular basis.

Bridget has every right to live where she chooses to and that place is close to her relatives who will provide support. I can’t belive you had the audacity to say that she should live on the east coast to make visitation convenient for Tom….please remember that Tom’s life has remained relatively unchanged throughout this pregnancy…he should be the one making time for his child.

Brittany, it would be nice if Bridget could put her career on hold, but I don’t think Hollywood’s going to sit around waiting for her, and she knows it! We can probably count on one hand the actresses who have taken time off to raise their children, and then resumed their careers when they were older (heck, how many actresses over 40 work steadily at all?) I’ll bet 99% of the reason she moved out there had to do with proximity to the film & TV opportunties that will come her way in L.A., unlike anywhere else in the country. She is doing the best for her son by providing a settled life for him, not having to travel all over the place, and I can imagine she’s also a proud woman who doesn’t want to depend solely on her ex to support the baby, especially under the circumstances. And does anyone really believe that even if she were on the East Coast, that she still wouldn’t be doing the lion’s share of the childcare?
When the football season is over, perhaps Tom can make fatherhood a priority; after all, between February and summer training camp, he’s the one with the more flexible schedule and can travel easier than Bridget. Hope he doesn’t “drop the ball” again, like he did this year during her pregnancy, and will put getting to know his gorgeous little boy first.

I’m sort of with you on this one Brittany. I’m surprised at how people are portraying Bridget to be some unfortunate victim. We don’t know anything about how their relationship ended, we don’t know her personality or how she treated Tom in their relationship (unless, we are one of their close friends, which I’m assuming most of you are not). While I do not think Bridget should have to relocate to the East coast so the baby can be around his dad, I do not think Tom should be judged for not being there more. From what we know, Tom could be video chatting, calling Bridget daily, and doing all he can from where he is. He was there for the birth of his son, and even asked for extended leave to spend more time with him. I have always been a fan of Tom’s and I guess I’m just sad that he’s been made to be a villain here because he has a new girlfriend. What does a new girlfriend have to do with what love he has for his child? It also puts a sour taste in my mouth that Bridget would choose for the baby not to have his father’s name, but then again maybe Tom agreed to it. I just don’t think it’s fair to judge (i.e. Bridget is such a strong woman, Tom is such a bad father) when we really know nothing about them aside from these pictures we see and the gossip we hear.

Firstly, John is an adorable baby!
Secondly, I think people are extremely naive if they think that Bridget didn’t know that OK Magazine would use a headline like that. You only have to look at previous OK covers to know that this whole thing would be sensationalised and that they would play on the “poor Bridget, bad Tom” angle. Even in the unlikely case that Bridget is unaware of how mags like OK work, you’d think that somebody advising her (agent, manager) would have pointed this out. With this in mind, I think she must either not be bothered by the headline or she wanted it to happen.

I think it’s in poor taste. While she may have nothing to do with the captions, she knows that the ONLY reason she is on a cover with that baby is because of the triangle with Tom and Giselle. Why keep it going? Does anyone over the age of 18 honestly think that a magazine like OK or US weekly is honorable? So even if she didn’t KNOW, she really did, if you think about it. Just sad, really.

I find it hard to believe that there wasn’t some mention of the magazine cover caption when Bridget and/or her publicist were negotiating with US. Most celebrities are very image conscience and want control over EVERYTHING.
Nevertheless as I said, Baby Brady is adorable and Bridget obviously adores him.
Sarah’s note: I do too, but from what we heard OK! chose the title and Bridget’s rep has not mentioned anything about it. Maybe she will today or later in the week, who knows. I just don’t want the impression to get out that she somehow asked them to use that wording or something.

Marissa, they’re NOT married or even in a relationship. The baby should have HER last name. Period. Look at Mary-Louise Parker and Mel B. They were both jilted during their pregnancies and the babies have the mother’s last name.

From what I’m hearing Tom isnt talking to ANYONE about the situation and that he and Bridget are not doing much talking although as of lately it’s become more then it was previously. I’ve only heard speculation about what happened but I really hope the two can at least put their hard feelings for one another a side for this ADORABLE baby!

Love how OK worded the headline. Makes Bridget out to be some heroine and loser at the same time. Saying she’s pulling through, staying strong as a new mom to John, but oh yeah, she she lost Tom to model Gisele and John supposedly is gonna have a life without his daddy? Nice move, OK!
But anyway, no one knows when the two actually started dating, who broke up with whom, and what the hell does it really matter? All she’s done is decide to share photos of her son with the world. I really think they should’ve just had some title about Bridget showing off her new son. (Though, it’s not that much different than the cover with Mel B and Angel.)
Whatever sells magazines is what will be the headline, I know. Or, just gone with someone other than OK!, like People Magazine. I would think they’d give her a better headline. The headline just takes away from the photos, in my eyes.
But, back to the photos, John is adorable…with his little old man face.
I can’t tell who he looks like, though. But I would say he’s a definite blend. Maybe once he gets older I’ll be able to see what features he’s inherited from them, though it seems like he has the same shaped eyes as Bridget. And, of course, Bridget looks amazing. 
I wondered what happened to this piece the other day. I saw it yesterday, link wasn’t working, then it vanished, now it’s back…lol.

He looks older than 5 weeks because he came 2 weeks late. Usually babies who come late look a bit older than those who come on time or early. They “bake” more in the womb.

Bridget looks like she swallowed a bitter pill to me. She got what she wanted, a baby. Unfortunately, it was a one sided decision since Tom had publicly stated that they broke up because she wanted to get married and start a family, and at 29, he wasn’t ready to settle down. Poof! Yes, the words on the cover may be a little tacky. But, guess what? The behavior of John’s father toward his mother and his 5 week old son is more than tacky. Let’s not quibble over whether Bridget knew or didn’t know what was going on the cover. That is inconsequential to the fact that this child’s father has chosen not to be a part of his life.

First off,
I think mom and baby look beautiful and John looks nice and healthy. If were a celebrity, I would not make a deal with any magazine even if the money goes to charity. The whole idea of getting money in exchange for sharing pictures of my child seems unseemly even though tons of celebrity from Britney to Gwen Stefani have done it. I would do what Tiger Woods did. Tiger took three to four pictures of his new daughter and wife and posted them on his website. From the website posting, outlets such as People and Celebrity Baby Blog picked it up. The public got to see the new addition and no money exchanged hands.
I believe pictures of Shiloh Jolie -Pitt went for three to four million. If I were Brad and Angelina, I would have released two or three pictures of mine own and donated my own money charity. In addition, releasing photos to a magazine really does not diminish interest in the child e.g. people still want to see Shiloh and Suri even though they are almost 2. Celebrities make millions, if they want to give money to charity they don’t need OK or US weekly to do if for them.
In terms of the caption, it could be an accurate reflection of the situation or totally sensationalist. Only Bridget and Tom know the real story and both of them are not talking.
Lastly, I still believe that it would have been great if Bridget gave the baby Tom’s last name even though they are not married. For every unmarried woman who gives her child her last name e.g. Mary Louise Parker, I can point to Brynn Cameron (Matt Leinart)and Shar Jackson (Kevin Federline) who gave their children the father’s last name. Even Mel B. gave her daughter the second middle name of Murphy in honor of the girl’s father.

Who are we to say what goes on between Tom and Bridget. They are 2 private people.
Bridget lives on the west coast and Tom has his obligation to the Patriots on the East coast. Though his family lives in Cali too. I’m sure if Tom was on a west coast team he would be seeing his son more.

Furthermore, in some states (I’m not sure about California) doesn’t the baby automatically take the mother’s name if the parents are married?

Seriously, though…no matter what you think of taking money for baby pics…she was GOING to be hounded for those photos NO matter what…so God bless the woman for doing some good at the same time. Her joy in this new life may be tempered slightly by the fact that she is no longer involved romantically with the child’s father, but when a parent welcomes a child born with EB (Epidermolysis Bullosa) they will know much more pain than joy almost every day. Babies with EB often do not survive transitional childbirth- the pressure is literally just too much for them and their little bodies succumb. The babies that DO survive cannot be hugged or touched without mounds of fresh bandaging; their skin peels away in layers if mom or dad even LOOKS at them the wrong way…if they have older siblings, the interaction is usually minimal or nonexistent due to the fragility of these babies.
Toddlers and older children with EB rarely enjoy the same activities as their peers…going to the bathroom is almost always a tears-inducing trauma that invokes more pain than many of could imagine tolerating so frequently.
My point is…while it may be “unseemly” in word to sell photos of your baby and give the money to charity…in deed, it’s a little different– when those photos are GOING to be in magazines o matter what you do, why wouldn’t do do what this lovely lady did and choose to do some good? I applaud her just as I applaud Angelina Jolie/Brad Pitt…when I think of all the families who may get to know the joy of a healthy child because of that large donation to a certain charity, made off Shiloh’s baby photos…I am so proud of them. So many people would have only donated ten percent and let the rest of the millions pad the bank account. But they gave every dime. God bless these lovely people who think of others, even at the times in their lives when we’re all a bit entitled to selfishness; the birth of a child…

I wonder why there aren’t any conspiracy theories floating around as to why the baby looks older than its age. After all, when Suri Cruise was born, everyone was going around badmouthing Tom Cruise saying the baby wasn’t his, and that Suri was actually older and conceived earlier. People are nasty.

Di,can’t we move on from the last name debate.He’s not our baby so ,really ,how does it concern us.Also,for the record, Angelina and Brad sold their photos for charity.Also, isn’t kind of ironic you complain about celebs selling photos of their kids but yet you are on a celeb baby site? Maybe, we should really stop judging them and just enjoy and apperciate the fact that some are willing to show us even a glance at their families cause they don’t have to.

Bridget can never win with some people. If she leaves the house without her baby, they say she’s neglecting her child and using a nanny. She can’t bring him out if she hasn’t released the photos or the paps will hound her for the first pix as it will be worth a LOT of money. So she releases the photos, gives the money to donation, now she gets criticized for exploiting her son. Poor woman, she’s already lived through 10 months of hell and this should have been a glorious moment, yet people can’t stop crucifying her. Her ex already has everything he wants, why not give this woman some peace and let her be?
I hope she continues to keep her head up high and know that for every 1 that criticize her, there are 5 that supports her. I love her “Silence is Golden” take on this. And lastly, the boy is just so adorable, and Mommy is gorgeous!

I love the pics, Bridget and John look adorable, and very beautiful!!!
I know OK want to sell the magazine so they choose whatever title they want. In order to pay 100K with no interview, she probably had to waive the right to choose the title(just a thought on the business side of things).
All in all, I think Tom will want to spend time with his child and get to know him. They both have moved on with their lives, but the circumstances of the break-up and the hook-up is what keep this saga juicy, and still going strong.
In future, John will have four parents looking out for him, that to me is a blessing, how fortunate he is!!

Of course, why would Bridget give her baby Tom’s name? There’s no law that she must, and obviously she felt very alone and very unsupported to choose her own name over Tom’s. It will also forever end any explanation of why her name and the baby’s are different (this happens all the time for divorced, then remarried parents). It’s easier on the child to have the same last name as the primary parent/caregiver.

Bridget deserves happiness as much as Tom does. I wish her all the very best. She is a beautiful person and John is too cute – looks like his daddy. I hope Bridget and Tom don’t end up like Denise Richards and Charlie Sheen. The Sheens were in a volatile relationship at best. I think Bridget will be an amazing mommy and I wish the family well. After all, she could’ve caused a huge amount of trouble whilst pregnant (re Tom and Gisele) but she didn’t. All the happiness and health to the Moynahans and daddy Brady. I hope they can treat this with one priority – baby John. All the best to them.

Ok magazine is well known for sensationalizing every celebrity story. Its is gossip mag after all. It’s just not right for us to sit hear and say “she had know control, she didn’t know”. I just don’t believe that. She is almost forty and has been in the industry for a while, she knew what they were going to do. It’s a shame that the baby has to be pulled into the parents mess.

I do find the title incredibly tacky, I’m not saying who I blame I would guess it wasn’t Bridget’s decision, but I think if I were her I would have made sure that didn’t happen.
The name thing again, why shouldn’t her baby have her name. She is the one raising it so it makes sense to me for it to have her name! And at least she included Tom’s name in the name somewhere, she didn’t even need to do that!

Tom found out that she was pregnant, after they broke up; And Gisele bought many gifts to the child, even built a nursery for him in her apartament.
I guess that Bridget is the one that needs to focus on what’s best for John and not for her.

The baby is a cutie!
I don’t get the fuss about the name. Why should a child automatically have the father’s name? It’s personal preference, and considering he has Thomas as his middle name, he already has part of his father’s name. Tom is obviously aware of this and they’re fine with their choice so it’s up to them. It’s not going to affect the baby one iota whether he has mum or dad’s surname, he’ll be loved and adored by both and that’s all that matters.
I don’t see the big deal with the selling of the photo’s either. If they’re tasteful photo’s, and the money get’s donated to charity, I don’t see the problem. Paparazzi aren’t climbing over each other for the ‘first’ picture of the child. That does diminish, because if you’ve already seen the child, magazines aren’t willing to pay the photographer as much money for the pictures. Had Angelina and Brad (for example) not sold the pictures and donated that money to charity, some paparazzo would snap the first picture of their child for millions and pocket them him/herself. I really don’t see any problem with selling photo’s to a magazine, especially with money going to charity. Personally I don’t think it’s a big moral dilemma, but that’s just my opinion.

Here are my second thoughts on the photo:
It is unfortunate that celebrities feel that have to make a deal with a magazine to release the first photos of their child. In my opinion it is totally unnecessary. If celebrities feel there is extreme interest i their child they can release one photo to everybody thereby decreasing the value of any subsequent photos.
Celebrities cannot have it both ways. They can not on the one hand demand privacy and then on the other hand to sell their child’s photo to the highest bidder. And even after the first photos are out there, there are still going to be race as to which photo agency can get the first candid/unposed shots of new parents and baby. Ben Affleck/Jennifer Garner,Naomi Watts are just a few celebrities who did not make a deal with a mag and who by the way did not hide out in their house like a hermit for months.
In terms of baby John not having his father’s last name. I feel sorry for him and I hope when he gets older he will do what I think his mother should have done and change his name legally to Brady. If I had father who was exceptional in his chosen field I would want to have his last name and even if my father never did anything noteworthy I would still like to have his name. Bridget is under no legal obligation to give her child the Brady name but you do not need a law to do the right thing in my opinion. And I stress that this is my personal opinion and others who disagree with me I respect your opinion. That is what is so great about America, no one has to have same opinon on everything.

I do beleive the Thomas was added as as afterthough tto please teh fatehr considering that his last name wa snto even there. This is more of a gift that someone gives to you, so whoever gave it to her knew ther mane as Johm Edward Moynahan. Of course Brady starts to show a wee bit of interest in getting involved…then I will guess the tom was added.
But I must say Bidgette has said very little of this situation and Tom only expresses his suprises in the media with his new girlfriend.
So I am only Guessing on this one….But it seems Bridgette is on the GO with her life and she projects this attitude that she is making all her desicisions and Tom can join and jump ship if he so wishes…
Again I , think something bad must have gone down before the break-up, because if love just fizzled and died off, she wouldnt ignore him so…hmmmm if only I was a fly on the wall during a Tom /Bridgette phone call

I am a huge PATS fan from New England. I am most happy and appreciative that Bill Belichick and Tom Brady head the team which has my football devotion. I think the little guy with the big name, Mr. John Edward Thomas is absolutely precious – such a gift. He does look like Tom – boy does he look like him. I think Bridget is beautiful, always have. She has a great career as well, and is an accomplished actress, and now a mother. She is a class act. Sorry that the team of Brady/Moynahan did not succeed.

the intertainment and sports world…marriages’s…partners…have a high persentage of failing….the glamor…..and all the money…seems to pull them apart instead of together…..I guess there is many why”s…..but in the end…for most people….they would have traded a happy relationship…..for all the many failed ones……..I feel for Tom…he is going to have to work hard…at having a long commeted relationship…while he is popular…he has too many camera’s watching….whatever he does…good or bad..will be in the next mornings paper……after awhile…the sexy model..is just another woman…look at all the failed marriages…involving…sexy women….I think of Christie Brinkley…why would her husband want to cheat………it may be good for Bridget…if…she backs off…and gets into the shadows…especially if she has the money invested to live well…without working…and I don’t think..she is taking Tom…for lots of money…if he is paying child support…with all his money…he won’t miss it…and in the end…won’t this son be worth it…whether he was planned or not….20 years from now…he may out shine Dad…..we will see….and what Bridget has gone through…she may work hard…in teaching him value’s…..

He looks just like Tom. NO doubt that is Tom Brady’s son. I wish Tom and Bridgett would get back together. Not just for John. I think they made a good couple, but how much nicer for the baby to have both parents. To raise him together for his sake. That would be the icing on the cake. He is soooo cute and so unmistakenly BRADY!
