"I just LOVE him and love the fact that he has turned into such a wonderful actor, partner and father. Good for him. The pic with the two of them together just melts my heart. My hubby looks at me like that still and I treasure it because some women wish they could find a good man who will still look at them the same way they did years before."

"If you ask Violet what I do, she'll say she remembers me bowing on stage when I did a show in New York, and so she'll say, 'My mom sometimes will bow on stage and sometimes she gets her hair and makeup done.' It's a great job!"

Katie Couric’s daughters excited about Gossip Girl

Tags: News, Quotes

CBS Evening News anchor Katie Couric, 50, makes sure that daughters Elinor "Ellie" Tully  Monahan and Caroline "Carrie" Couric Monahan may not be that interested in mom’s career but that doesn’t mean they don’t watch other things on television. Katie revealed,

They watch The O.C. They’re very excited about Gossip Girl. I don’t think they pay a lot of attention to the news right now. They’re 16 and 11.

Although the girls have other favorites, they do catch mom on the air once in awhile.

They do watch my broadcast occasionally. I give them a pop quiz when I come home for dinner.

Ellie and Carrie’s dad is the late Jay Monahan who passed away from cancer in 1998.

GOSSIP GIRL? For an 11-yr old? I understand that this is a liberal blog but GOSSIP GIRL? Rape, drug abuse and consensual sex unfolding within the realm of high school. Please tell me Couric isn’t brushing this off as cute, this is downright terrible.

  2. Nikki Says:

I LOVE Gossip Girl!! Hopefully the 11 year old doesn’t understand half the stuff that happens on that show, lol.

  3. Colleen Says:

11 years old is 6th grade. Sadly, most 11 year olds already know about rape, sex, and durgs- and many have experienced one of those firsthand.

  4. Carrie Says:

hey. this is carrie. who cares if i watch gossip girl? what does it matter to you? i do live in new york city and i am not like those girls on it and they are not my role models. i just think it is an entertaining show so stop dissing my mother’s judgements on letting me watch that show. i had no idea i was ever on the internet til now and that people were talking about me and the fact that i watch gossip girl.

  5. Katie Says:

*Rolls eyes at post above* I doubt you’re the real Carrie Monahan. Anyways, I do think 11 is kinda young to be watching a show like Gossip Girl, but at least she isn’t watching Nip/Tuck.

  6. Carrie Says:

ya actually this IS the real carrie. you better believe it.

  7. Carrie Says:

this is not my mom. imposter. you are a bad person. don’t comment and pretend to be my mother.

  8. carrie moomoo Says:

  9. CaRoLiNe MoNaHaN Says:
