"I just LOVE him and love the fact that he has turned into such a wonderful actor, partner and father. Good for him. The pic with the two of them together just melts my heart. My hubby looks at me like that still and I treasure it because some women wish they could find a good man who will still look at them the same way they did years before."

"If you ask Violet what I do, she'll say she remembers me bowing on stage when I did a show in New York, and so she'll say, 'My mom sometimes will bow on stage and sometimes she gets her hair and makeup done.' It's a great job!"

Anthony Bourdain surprised his mom when he became a father

Tags: Dads, News, Quotes

Bestselling author and chef Anthony Bourdain shocked his mom, Gladys, when he became a father in April to daughter Ariane, now 5 months, with wife Ottavia Busia. The 51-year-old’s mother stated,

His having a baby surprised me incredibly. Because he had always said he didn’t want to be a hostage to fear. Andthat you have to worry so about children that he really didn’t want it.

But I think, frankly, that he’ll be a fantastic father. Because underall the cynicism he has a mushy place that’s very tender.

Anthony adores his little girl, but knew that he was not ready to be a father in his younger years.

For most of my life, I credit myself with being aware that I wouldn’thave been a good father. At no point in my life was I aperson who should’ve been responsible for a little life. Too selfish, too self involved. Too messed up on drugs, and also afraid. So that thethought of being frightened for a child — I was not up to thatkind of fear and responsibility.

And I guess I just reached a pointwhere, you know, I think I’m ready to have a baby. In fact, I would be a good dad. I’m not such a bad guy.

I’m sure Tony is a fantastic dad! He may be a little rough around the edges, but he seems to have a warm heart, has an insatiable curiosity about life, and a deep, genuine appreciation for different kinds of people –and these qualities contribute to making a wonderful parent. He sure will have a lot to teach that little girl.

I love watching Anthony Bourdain’s show. Behind his tough, “I don’t give a f***” facade, one can tell he has a tender heart. A daughter is what he needs. congratulations, Tony.

BTW, love the comments you made about your “endorsement pictures” that were taken while you were in Singapore for the 2nd time. You were so funny, I nearly fall off the couch, laughing. Keep those witty & sarcastic comments coming.

I’m so happy that he’s found happiness. I too think he’ll be great dad, even though he’s going to be close to 70 when she graduates high school! Congratulations on everything, Tony! Congrats on quitting smoking, finding love again with Ottivia, and congrats on becoming a dada!
