Jerry Seinfield was awakened to fatherhood
Every parent recalls the moment that they learned that they were about to become a mom or a dad, and comedian Jerry Seinfeld, 53, is no different. He recently shared how he found out his wife, Jessica Sklar Seinfeld, was pregnant with the couple’s first child, daughter Sascha, 7 next month.
She had one of those [home pregnancy test] sticks that you buy at the drugstore. I was sleeping and she started tapping the stick on the pillow. So I opened my eyes. It was great.
The couple is also parents to sons Julian Kal, 5, and Shepherd Kellen, 2.

My period was very late (despite being on the pill) and I had taken a couple of home pregnancy tests that turned out negative, so when I took a third one early one morning before work, I expected another negative result. But it was positive!! I remember I went into the bedroom and my hubby was sleeping, so I sort of woke him up and started telling him about this big news, even though we had planned to wait another couple of years (we got married in our early 20’s, so we figured we had lots of time!)…. I explained that we would figure things out and although this was a shock, we’d been married 6 years and could handle a baby, etc. etc. He went right back to sleep and called me at work a couple of hours later, asking if I had told him what he thought he’d heard….. he wasn’t sure if he had been dreaming all of this. We got another shock at our first ultrasound and found out we were having twins! We got lucky and have a boy and a girl.

I had suspected that I was pregnant and took a home pregnancy test two days before my period. There was a faint but almost nothing line. I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me. I didn’t say anything to my husband because we had just had a miscarriage 5 months earlier and I didn’t want to get our hopes up if there was nothing. So I waited until the next day and saw a clearer line but it was still faint. So I decided to wait until the next morning the day of my period and take one more. I got up and went into the bathroom and sure enough there was a line. I then went down stairs to give the good news. It was Father’s Day and I took the stick into him and wished him a Happy Father’s Day. He looked at me kind of shocked but was extreamly happy and couldn’t wait to tell everyone. We had all our family there for the day so we got to experience the excitment with eveyone. 9 months later our daughter was born. We are trying again and when it happens, I will have to think of another special way to tell him.

I was a few days late and my husband suggest I wait until the weekend to take a home pregnancy test. (This was Monday) He had a business meeting until Tuesday evening so I took the test then..positive. C’mon, there was no way I was waiting until the weekend. When he came home I turned off my favourite show and said I had something to tell him. He said later that he knew what I was going to say as soon as I turned off the t.v. If I was missing my show, he knew it was important.

I wasn’t late at all…I wasn’t due to start for another week. I know the exact date that we conceived, it was 4 days before my 20th birthday. My boyfriend at the time was in the Navy and therefore living 5 hrs away on base and we only saw one another on the weekends. Anyhow, because of this living arrangement, when I did take a pregnancy test he was on the phone with me. Then when he came home for the weekend, he brought a pregnancy test with him so that he see it turn positive. Honestly, we didn’t know what too think, but now we have a beautiful, healthy soon to be six year old girl…and we have been married for over 6 years!
