Soleil Moon Frye opens The Little Seed
Soleil Moon Frye’s new eco-friendly and organic baby store, The Little Seedopened yesterday in the hip, urban enclave of Larchmont Village (219 LarchmontBlvd). Co-founded with fellow new moms Paige Goldberg Tolmach and BethBirkett, the goal was to create a one-stop shop for parents seekingproducts from skincare to bedding to toys that are made with organic oreco-friendly materials – healthy for babies and healthy for theplanet.
“After spending months on the web researching and buying non-toxic and organic products that wouldn’t irritate our babies’ skin, we realized that the search to find these items is shockingly difficult,” said Paige, who also co-founded Swoon Candle. Soleil added, “We wanted to create a physical space – and soon an accompanying website –where parents had the option to purchase stylish organic or eco products exclusively.” Beth, who is also a fashion designer, said, “That one-stop shop option hasn’t existed until now. The Little Seed is that option.”
The Little Seed occupies roughly 2,200 square feet of retail space, along with a diaper changing station, nursing lounge and an arts & crafts area for the littlest shoppers. Because The Little Seed is committed to providing parents with succinct information on improving the health of their children and the planet, they will also offer creative classes for kids and educational seminars for parents. And because they put their money where their mouths are, the entire store environment is safe and non-toxic – from the no V.O.C. paint on the walls to the reusable shopping bags. (No V.O.C. means no volatile organic compounds, something most paints have, but this is starting to change.)
A selection of products carried at The Little Seed includes CBB and celebrity favorite Orbit Baby Strollers, sustainable and organic Stockmeyer crayons and paints, organic bed linens from Amenity & Coyuchi, stylish bed linens from Dwell Baby, organic cotton clothes from Fauna, Speesees & Kate Quinn, built for beginners bicycles from Like A Bike, 100% certified organic Merino Wool clothing and blankets by Nui Organics, Organic toys from Zid Zid, and sustainable furniture from Kalon Studios, among others. Prices at The Little Seed range from $10 gardening kits for mother and child, to over $1,000 for a crib set from the Netto Collection.
For more information on products carried at The Little Seed, or to order a special gift selection presented in a sustainable, custom weaved basket, call 323-462-4441.

Could you post what city this store is in? I’ve noticed that before on this site, sometimes a post will talk about a location (ie. Larchmont Village), but those of us who are not from that area don’t know what city it is in. Los Angeles? New York? Chicago? If you could include that sort of thing in the posts, it would really help. Even times when it’s saying “so and so was seen in the Uptown section…”…Uptown where?
Thanks.

Good for you, Soleil! Good to see another woman who saw a need and decided to take it upon herself to try to fill it! Especially in the world of organics, there are quite a few gaps and it takes women like us to fill them!
