If you missed Samantha’s blog on her labor and Josselyn’s birth, catch up here. Samantha returned to DWtS on Monday evening, baby in tow, and chatted with OK! and People about balancing breastfeeding and ballroom.
Josselyn, who arrived two weeks early, certainly threw a wrench in her mom’s plans to continue hosting Dancing With the Stars until mid-October. Samantha laughs as she recalls sending an ‘I’m in labor’ text message to DWtS producers on the night before the show’s premiere.
Josselyn told us who was boss. She said, ‘I’m No. 1 in your life and I’m going to tell you that right now!’
Samantha, who describes her delivery as, ‘blissful, if that’s possible,’ has spent the last few weeks learning to feed her daughter and ‘smother her with kisses pretty much 24 hours a day.’ Husband Michael Hess takes care of the dirty work. Samantha says,
I didn’t change a diaper for five days. He wins the prize for husband of the year!
Josselyn, who received her first two dancing outfits from grandma — purple and orange tutus — has her own tricks up her sleeve, including how to charm her mom.
She’s just a little lovebug. It’s so cute when you kiss her on the cheek and she turns in the direction of where you kiss her, then she smiles. I can’t drink in enough of her. I’ve been singing her ‘Sunrise, Sunset,’ which my dad [now deceased] used to sing to me. There’s a line in it that says, ‘Wasn’t it yesterday when they were small?’ I’m going to be singing this probably as long as I live.

I saw E tonight and I just about started tearing up…Josselyn is so absolutely gorgeous! All that gorgeous brown hair and she has a little tutu on! She’s just stunning–I think she looks like both mom and dad…I can’t wait to see this wee one grow up…she’s gonna be a stunner! Welcome to the world Josselyn!

OMG, look at all that hair!! Reminds me a bit like Suri Cruise with so much hair.. and hopefully she won’t lose it in a few months like a lot of babies do! She is going to be such a knock-out when she gets older.

Her doe-like eyes and lips make me think of Samantha. She does favor her mom right now, and she’s just a little baby doll, seriously! Too adorable!

What a beautiful little baby girl! She is a perfect mix of both Mom and Dad. Her name seems to suit her and I am absolutely in love with the name Josselyn!

Oh wow…I think she’s one of those beautiful babies I’ve seen..look at all that gorgeous dark hair! and that face…she’s like one of those little dolls…absolutely stunning…I can see how Samantha just wants to kiss on her all day…
Samantha definitely seems to have fallen in love with her wee one and very sweet moment with her singing the song her daddy used to sing to her…love this family =)) and Josselyn looks like a really good mix of both mom and dad =) She sure is gorgeous

look at her hair – its absolutely gorgeous. i had hair just like that when i was born, thick thick dark hair it turned blond when i was about 3 months but is still very think now
Josselyn is simply beautiful no other way around it – she is a perfect baby if i ever saw one

Hmm…so Jennifer Lopez will be a guest on next week’s DWTS. Will she make an announcement then? Maybe share her good news with new mom Samantha? Probably not, but it will be interesting to see if we can spot a baby belly.
