Kate Walsh talks about the chances of having children
Private Practice actress Kate Walsh, 40, revealed to Marie Claire for their November issue that she is not sure yet whether or not children are in the future for her and new husband, movie executive Alex Young, 36.
I realized that I didn’t want to have a child badly enough to do it on my own. Now I have a great guy, and maybe we’ll have kids and maybe we won’t. I don’t know. I’m not interested in cramming it all in. I don’t think that’s a healthy way to live.

She sounds like she is just being cautious and isn’t sure that she can have children. My neighbors were married for 12 years and had no kids and when someone would ask, they would say that they weren’t sure they wanted kids. Later on, they conceived via IVF, and admitted it was easier to say they didn’t want kids than to discuss difficulties conceiving with everyone who asked. Cautious and private sounds like Kate and her husband to me.

Good for her. Sweeping statements from celebrities in their forties about how they’re just going to have a couple of kids is really misleading – it’s nice to see someone being realistic about how they may not have kids after all.

Good for her – she’s just speaking the truth. Maybe she will have kids, maybe she won’t. Not everyone is destined to have kids. Not everyone is just dying to have them with a loud clock ticking as they age. Not everyone is covering up their secret wishes for kids by saying they don’t know what is in the cards for them. Sometimes it just is what is it – an unknown.

Yeah I think it’s good that she’s being optimistic either way, that she’d take kids if it happens, but if it doesn’t then it wasn’t meant to be.
I’d say she mainly admitted those statements to the press mainly because she just got married a month or two ago and probably wants time with her new husband, although I suppose she could also pull a Marcia Cross (or Nancy Grace*) and have a baby (or two) next year! lol! (*I’d actually wondered that when I’d heard Kate had fainted at her own wedding!)
If that would happen, it would prove interesting for her character on Private Practice, that’s for sure! lol!

I didn’t realize she was 40. My goodness she looks good.
