Haha. My best friend an another friend of ours is pregnant. Before her pregnancy, my best friend didn't dislike coconuts, but they were just kind of . . . there. She didn't eat coconuts unless they were natural. No artificial coconut flavoring. Since her cravings started, she's all about coconuts. Loves them. Our friend that is pregnant likes mustard on everything. I think she's possibly made the weirdest sandwhich to date: a peanut butter and mustard sandwhich.
I actually think that sandwhich she made is yet another reason why I refuse to have kids. Lol.
Well, Milla is the most gorgeous woman in the world, and her daughter, Ever, is adorable!

A craving for bone marrow sounds like something out of Resident Evil.

I craved potato chips and ranch dressing for about two weeks during my first trimester.

Then I craved Subway roastbeef sandwiches with extra pickels, banana peppers and mayo during my second trimester for about 2 weeks.

My doctor told me my weight was a concern when I packed on 10 pounds in one month and since then I've been loading up on good fuel in a balanced diet, and will keep it up for the next 3.5 months of my pregnancy.

I craved cheese and salami...and then in the third trimester, chocolate chip cookies and pizza (probably the cheese of the pizza). In my first pregnancy, I did not go crazy, but did "enjoy" myself...and gained 50lbs. My girls are 17 months apart, so when my oldest was 8 months, I became pregnant with my second. At this point, I was not at my pre-pregnancy weight, and DID NOT want to gain +/- 50lbs. on top of the 20 first baby pounds I still wanted to lose. So for my second pregnancy, I gained +/- 20lbs. (10 kgs.). I also craved cheese and salami during my second pregnancy.

During both pregnancies I took fish oil pills/supplements daily (in Europe the prenatal vitamins I was taking, there was a special fish oil packet in addition to the daily 1 pill). Salmon was one of my favorite fish before (and during) my pregnancies, so I also ate salmon 1 to 2 times a week. Now I almost hate salmon. ...the things we do for our children - but I have smart children with super brain I hope :-).

I read somewhere (I think on CBB) that non-edible cravings are a sign of something else that should be looked into. Bone marrow is edible, so I do not think anything is wrong with this craving. If one has this craving when pregnant, I am sure it is not "yuck"...when pregnant, a craving is a craving, is a craving...no matter what it is, as a craving it is satisfying. Who are we to judge bone marrow (particularly if we have not tried it...pregnant or not).

In my last pregnancy I had healthy cravings: I craved fresh fruit and vegetables. I couldn't get enough of them and made a fruit salad every day. I was never too lazy to cut several different fruits, bananas, melons, pineapples, apples, grapes, strawberries, etc. yumm!

Nothing too crazy here... Popsicles and watermelon with my daughter. Ate a can of lemon pie filling and lemon icee's with my son one day. My sister in law craved Sauerkraut and my best friend craved and ate bags of radishes.

augustmoon, I don't know if you have had a baby but just to warn you, as someone who had been vegetarian for several years followed by several years of also eating chicken and fish, with my first pregnancy I really craved parma ham! I even ate it for breakfast. It was the cured, salty taste that I really wanted, I believe that is a fairly common craving.

sabina, I have to say you really don't know what you will be like. In both my pregnancies I had terrible heartburn, which was made worse by a lot of fruits, because of the fruit acid. Bananas also brought on heart burn and in my second pregnancy made me sick. In my second pregnancy salad vegetables made me heave. Sweet, doughy foods, and creamy foods helped relieve my nausea. Mashed potato also helped. Anyway you may find the healthy foods you would like to eat, are not going to suit you when you are pregnant.

Yeah, the whole marrow story grosses me out, too...:P Yuck! But, you know, to each his or her own. I have a problem with bones and skin in general in my food, but it's just an aesthetics thing, not because I have some fundamental opposition to animal protein. I do enjoy a nice steak, just not one that has a bone in it, or one I've seen cut off the cow. I need to be able to kind of disassociate myself from the source, lol! Pretty lily livered of me, I realize. Just picturing her slathering bread with marrow is kind of freaking me out!

P.S. Marrow is yummy!
