Mira Sorvino picks roles carefully since becoming a mother
Oscar winner Mira Sorvino, 39, has made many movies during her career but since becoming a mother to children Mattea, 2 1/2, and Johnny, 15 months, she views her roles differently. She states,
Certainly wanting them to be proud of what I did when I was their mom definitely weighs in. You definitely are aware of being an example for your children.
I have two lives – one as an actor and one as an actress, and they don’t always intersect. Sometimes it’s just plain entertainment and for the love of it, and other time there’s a social message that’s coming through it.

I cannot make sense of her comment. What does she mean she has two lives- one as an actor and one as an actress? Can someone please tell me what she meant?

I guess she regards actor as more serious about the profession, than the word actress.
Like she says in the other half of that sentence, one is entertainment the other is for message.

I think that must be a misprint. She must have said, “I have two lives – one as a mother and one as an actress.”

I think she means two ‘work’ lives. What a strange statement though – almost sexist in a way. My guess is she means that she takes fun roles for pure entertainment and in those she considers herself an ‘actress’. Or she takes serious roles for message and in those she considers herself an ‘actor’. I thought at first she meant mother and actress too but the second sentence doesn’t support that theory.
