"I just LOVE him and love the fact that he has turned into such a wonderful actor, partner and father. Good for him. The pic with the two of them together just melts my heart. My hubby looks at me like that still and I treasure it because some women wish they could find a good man who will still look at them the same way they did years before."

"If you ask Violet what I do, she'll say she remembers me bowing on stage when I did a show in New York, and so she'll say, 'My mom sometimes will bow on stage and sometimes she gets her hair and makeup done.' It's a great job!"

Australian TV host Kylie Gillies talks about her family life

Australian Seven Network’s The Morning Show co-host Kylie Gillies, 40, had an interview with Good Health & Medicine magazine where she talked about her job and her family life. Here are some excerpts:

I met my husband Tony in Tamworth. He is a journalist, too, and was working on the local paper.
Our careers have grown side-by-side. I’m very proud of that — and of him. I love that Tony and I have a shared love of journalism. At least our boys (Gus, 5, and Archie, 3) should be good spellers!

We were married 13 years before we had children.
Some of that was by design. We loved our lives and each other. Then, when we decided to have children, we had a few hiccups along the way — I had two miscarriages. Having kids is fantastic but it certainly changes your life.

You really need to be comfortable in your own relationship to have children.
If we had kids earlier in our marriage, I don’t know if we would have been ready. It’s not about you anymore, so you need to be really happy and together and love each other to death or the wheels come off.

My typical day now is kind of a juggle.
My alarm goes at 5.23am. I play that game with myself that 5.23 is better than 5.20. I’m out the door and in the car with no make-up and wet hair by 5.40. My husband is home until 7.30am and we have a babysitter to care for the boys until I get home by lunchtime. I appreciate kids need routine and we try and keep that locked in, so I get work things done by 1pm and in the afternoon we go to the park. By 9pm I’m totally knackered.

I love the mix of family and work.
I think I am generally a happy person. I feel I have a lot to be thankful for. I’m blessed with good health and I run on nervous energy. I’m always on the move — since having children I don’t think I have sat down! I’m so much more organised than I was. I get more achieved now than I ever did before I became a mother. What we do as mothers is remarkable, and I really love my girlfriends who are mothers.
