Myleene Klass says ‘I love my work, but Ava comes first’

Pianist and former television co-host Myleene Klass, 29, talked about her decision to give up her role on BBC1’s nightly The One Show to focus on her new daughter, Ava, 11 weeks. Myleene said:

I took a good look at how I was going to fit everything in. I already had a very busy work schedule. Ava is the most precious thing in my life. I’m loving every minute of it. Even the 2 a.m. feed. But, like most women, I have to earn a living. One of the things I’ve had to do is accept that I can’t do everything.

Women can’t just go back to work and continue as they did before. I decided to drop The One Show. It took a lot of soul-searching, but the schedule just didn’t fit in with my routine. I love my work, but Ava comes first.

The former Hear’Say singer is still keeping plenty busy in her life. Myleene is a guest presenter on Children In Need on November 16, she is also modeling for M&S, recording music, and serving as an honorary ambassador for London. She will accompany Mayor Ken Livingstone to India in several weeks to help strengthen ties within the country. Myleene is also performing in a concert aimed to highlight London’s cultural and artistic life.  She said:

I’m enormously proud.

Myleene likes to bring Ava with her to work as much as possible. When she isn’t able to take Ava along, her fiance Graham Quinn or her mother help out. Myleene explained:

But that doesn’t happen that often. I take her everywhere, including the radio studio. It’s great that I can breastfeed her while still on air.

But in cases where she is apart from Ava, she is ready.

I have a freezer-load of breast milk because I like to be prepared.
