Update: Nancy Grace released from hospital, hopes to bring twins home next week
Update: Nancy has been released from the hospital. She and David hope to bring the twins home in time for Thanksgiving. Nancy blogs,
Lucy and John David are still in the preemie unit. Pleasecontinue your prayers. I know they are being heard because the doctorssay the twins are doing well. John David is up to 5 and a half poundsand Lucy is approaching 4 pounds! They are both taking bottles and Ipray and believe, they are close to having tubes removed.
Today, they slept side by side, swaddled in one blanket, with matching hatson. I decided that is how their first official photo will be made. Thepreemie unit has a lady that goes around with a cart taking baby photosand of course I’m signing up!
I can’t wait to introducethem to you on air when I am finally back at work, God willing. Theyare the joy of my life. I never knew such a love.
Pleasecontinue to pray and think of them. I feel so positive and hopeful whenI read your emails and cards, hopeful for the day we will all come homeas a family. Ngrace

Update November 14th: Nancy’s husband David tells People that the medication has had an impact on her condition and she is doing ‘doggone good.’
Sheis breathing effortlessly now. The swelling around herlegs and feet have pretty much gone away. She will stay on medication for a couple of months to make sureeverything is okay and prevent any other clots.
The twins are improving as well.
John David has gone from being fed via a tube to primarily being fed bya bottle and today is the first day they’re going to try to give LucyElizabeth a bottle. Her weight is going up and she’s doing quite well. They’re out of the critical area and have stabilizedpretty well.
Originally posted November 13th: CNN anchorwoman Nancy Grace, 49, has been re-hospitalized a week after the birth of her twins due to complications stemming from the pregnancy.
Nancy, who delivered John David and Lucy Elizabeth by emergency c-section last Sunday after the beginnings of pulmonary edemawere found, was headed to church yesterday when she began experiencingpain and having trouble breathing. She was admitted to the hospital, where two blood clots were spotted in her lungs. Nancy is expected toremain hospitalized until the end of the week.
Of her twins, Nancy blogged on Monday that,
Lucy Elizabeth and John David both lost weight at first, but nowthey are gaining. She is feisty and he is laid back — we even have towake John David up to make him eat.
Every night during the pregnancy Iwould sing them to sleep with the same songs after the show; and now, when they are fussy, I hold them and sing the same songs and theyimmediately calm down… So maybe they do remember the last few months.Their favorite seems to be "Swing Low Sweet Chariot!" They both smileall the time. They wear the hats that you sent in to maintain theirbody temperature. I know in my heart they would not be doing this wellwithout your love and prayers, please keep praying! I miss you guys,Ngrace.

How scary! I’m glad that she was able to make it to the hospital where they can take care of her. I hope that she’s okay.
November 13th, 2007 at 8:15 pm
When I think of how many orphans Nancy Grace created through a lifetime of prosecutorial misconduct, wrongly convicting folks to build add gold stars to her 100% convict rate, it would be sort of just if she dropped dead.
November 13th, 2007 at 8:40 pm
Oh gosh… My prayers are with Nancy and her little miracles.
November 13th, 2007 at 9:01 pm
The same thing happened to me recently and this is a VERY scary situation. I too am glad that she made it to the hospital in time to be treated, and I hope the kids are doing okay too.
November 13th, 2007 at 11:36 pm
Scary!

Hope she is okay!!! Can’t wait to see the little ones!
November 14th, 2007 at 12:33 am
IMHO Nancy & her twins should’ve never left the hospital yet!
All in all it was a high risk pregnancy to begin with (having newborn twins at 48, and the twins’ sizes & all) and then she had that lung complication so I’m surprised Nancy had been released at all yet. (If this was 15+ yrs ago, she would’ve still been hospitalized since the twins’ birth because of her c-section & the cardio-pulminary issue.)
Hopefully she’ll be able to get the help she needs and that her babies will be able to grow and thrive! Best wishes & God bless Nancy & family!
Sarah’s note: The twins are still in the hospital.
November 14th, 2007 at 1:13 am
I hope she is ok, so she can get back to her babies soon.
November 14th, 2007 at 1:49 am
Is pulmonary edema a pregnancy thing or not?
November 14th, 2007 at 2:29 am
The pulmonary edema is due to the complications of the pregnancy.
November 14th, 2007 at 4:36 am
Noone deserves more than Nancy a wonderful life with her new twins and her husband. She is a wonderful person and I just wish her all the luck in the world. She’s a wonderful person and to be admired for all she does!
Congratulations Nancy and family!
November 14th, 2007 at 8:16 am
oh,thatd be scary-i pray she gets well very very soon!!!!
November 14th, 2007 at 12:01 pm
That is a VERY serious complication. Many prayers for her and the babies. I too was a bit dismayed that she was out and about due to the massive changes her body is going thru. Certainly, she had her doctors blessing, i couldn’t imagine her jeopardizing her health. But, Nancy, TAKE IT EASY! You’re a new momma now and you can’t go go go like you’ve gone for 48 years. I love that Nancy calls the twins by their full names. Get well Nancy. And can not wait to see pics of little LE &JD.
November 14th, 2007 at 2:33 pm
I have never been a Nancy Grace fan but I am really glad to hear that she and her babies are doing well.
November 14th, 2007 at 4:12 pm
I think that the pulmonary problems could be related to medicine that they may have given her to keep her from going into labor too soon. My friend just had twins and she was on bedrest and on medicine to prevent going into labor too early, and the medicine presented a major risk of pulmonary edema and/or clots.
November 14th, 2007 at 4:26 pm
There’s a reason why 50 year olds shouldn’t have babies
November 14th, 2007 at 8:53 pm
To Nancy and her husband, Congradulations on your twins.. I always say babies are angels from God. It is a gift that only God can give us. I want to say I love watching the Nancy Grace show. I am not able to have children so I know how precious they are and sometimes I think people doesn’t understand that. But again I wish you all the best and many happy memories with those two little angels.
November 14th, 2007 at 9:12 pm
Nancy, you’re a tough southern girl, and we are all praying for you. I’m so excited for you, your husband and those precious babies. Enjoy them every single day, they are a gift and I know you will be a wonderful mommy.
November 15th, 2007 at 12:02 am
I definitely think they allow women and babies to leave the hospital WAY too soon anymore. And my goodness, going to church, she should stay home and rest! I certainly hope they weren’t taking those newborn babies out during this time of the year this soon after birth.
I do hope she recovers quickly and that the babies do well.
Sarah’s note: The babies are still hospitalized and most likely will be for the next couple weeks, at least Lucy. Nancy was released last Thursday after 4 days, then was re-admitted Sunday.
November 15th, 2007 at 1:33 am
I think if you have an uncomplicated delivery and your baby is healthy, why should you stay in a hospital? I went home 6 hours after giving birth to my second child after a 23 hour labor. I don’t really see a need to be in a hospital unless absolutely necessary after a baby is born. In Nancy’s case, she has preemies, it obviously makes sense that they will spend quite some time in the NICU.
November 15th, 2007 at 7:33 am
nancy i hope that you are much better now . i am also a twin have a twin brother that lives in marietta , ga i live in columbus ga we both weighed 2 lbs each at birth and that was 68 years ago where they didnt have the modern tech that they have now . im been a fan of yours for 12 years on court tv and cnn . good wishes to both you and david and good luck with the babies . i know your mom and dad are also thrilled .
November 15th, 2007 at 10:14 pm
I am praying for Nancy Grace and her JD and LE and David. Hope all is well and at home soon.

I agree with you that women under 40 who have uncomplicated, vaginal births with no underlying issues do not need to spend excess time in the hospital–in fact, I really believe they are safer at home, because of the chance of staph, etc.
However, in the case of people who have had c-sections, multiples or women who are of “advanced” maternal age, they should be kept at least long enough to do proper observation. Lots of older moms have the risk of hemorrhage after giving birth. Didn’t Madonna almost bleed to death after having Rocco? (she was only 41 at the time too, am I right?) And they are also at risk for hypertension and other dangerous conditions during pregnancy. My gosh, Nancy is almost 50! They definitely should have kept her in the hospital longer.
I’m really glad she’s doing better and that the twins are improving. It’s amazing what modern medicine is capable of nowadays. Just 20 yrs ago, this probably would have been impossible for her. She’s so lucky, though I think she knows it.
November 16th, 2007 at 5:50 pm
Rachel–Most hospitals now keep mother and baby for at least 24 hours to check for jaundice or other complications. In addition, Nancy had a C-Section, which usually keeps the mother in the hospital an extra three or four days.
November 16th, 2007 at 5:56 pm
Lots of love and prayers to Nancy Grace and her babies. I never miss your show. You are the best!
November 16th, 2007 at 6:04 pm
Good luck to Nancy and David and the twins, I am also a twin and it is a blessing, a double blessing. Nancy got the babies she so deserves. Good things come to those that wait and Nancy sure did. Now she has the love of a husband and her children ,what more could she want? Don’t forget Nancy you still have the love of your fans all over the place, how lucky can one woman be? Good luck and God bless you all.
November 16th, 2007 at 6:59 pm
wow – swaddled in one blanket – sounds uncomfortable..
i had a c-section and had four extra days in the hospital… i actually requested an extra day though. my ob said i could go home after three days. i wasn’t ready.
November 16th, 2007 at 8:31 pm
God Bless You and your family, Nancy. I pray for all of you to be healthy and well. Thank God for your babies and their health. My prayers are with you all. Ruby
November 16th, 2007 at 9:08 pm
Nancy and David our prayers and thoughts are with you and your new babies. I know how scary the situation, my sona nd daughter in law had a son last month and still to this day is in ICU and was flown to Salt Lakes Primary Children’s Hospital and has been diagnosised with myotubularmyopathy muscle disease that was formed at conception. He to is hooked to tubes to feed him and help him breath. But, he seems to be a fighter and hope that he continues to fight, even though he will never walk and he will always need assistance we will love him not matter. God Bless and can’t wait for you to get back to work and show off them babies. We love you and pray for you….Melody and Dan Adams
November 16th, 2007 at 9:57 pm
Congrats on the babies! I have twin aunts and twin nephews. Our family has twins in nearly every generation. Hope you get to bring the babies home soon. Hurry back to the show…we miss you!
November 17th, 2007 at 12:05 am
How sad! God bless that family… I just wanted to cry reading nancy’s notes; so sincere. I will start praying that those sweet little children will be home soon… strong and healthy.
November 17th, 2007 at 12:06 am
I am not giving orders, just get well, follow doctors orders. Love those babies and your husband. God is with all of you and you will make it and be home for Thanksgiving Have a happy one and our prayers will continue. Love you Nancy. led
November 17th, 2007 at 3:28 am
Hopefully the babies will be home for the holiday(s).
If both are up to 4 LBs they’ll be able to be released. It’s policy; aslong as no other complications arise of course.
November 17th, 2007 at 5:36 am
God help those kids when they start to grow up and have arguments with mom.
November 17th, 2007 at 1:32 pm
Glad to hear she is better and that the twins are growing. I pray all the best for her and her growing family and I know these little ones will have lots of love and joy
November 17th, 2007 at 4:44 pm
Hospital refuses release of twins to NG. NG has been released from the hospital, but the hospital still refuses to release the twins to her. Guess that is what happens to most alcoholic-moms when they jeopardize the health and safety of their children. Hopefully NG tries to stay sober for time-spans greater than just a few hours. This will give the hospital a chance to more thoroughly investigate whether her drunkenness has affected the health of those twins.

Hi – Nancy this is Fran from the Bronx. SinceI bought a new a new computer some time ago I haven’t had it hooked up yet, I can only e-mail you from the library. Could you imagine if I had my own computer. That is one of the reasons, I have not recently written to you. I do continue to watch your show daily, f possible. I am very happy to hear that the twins are gaining weight, and Lucy is doing better. I was quite upset to learn that you were hospitalized. I am happy that you are home now, and maybe your “darlings” will be home by Thanksgiving. Woudn’t that be a blessing for all of you!!! Nancy, you don’t appear to be one that rests alot, but now that you are a Mother, you obviously need to slow down. David appears to be a wonderful man,and what a great time in your life this is for you and your family. I am hoping since the twins are doing well, you will all begin your journey into parenthood soon. I know what I meant, so I hope it makes sense to you. Even toward the end of your pregnancy, you still looked radiant and glowing. You are in my prayers, and I will be looking on your blog to see when Lucy Elizabeth and John David come home. It appears that Lucy Elizabeth is alot like you Nancy!!!!!!!!!!!
November 17th, 2007 at 8:21 pm
Oops, well I wasn’t aware the babies were still in the hospital, but I still feel Nancy was up and about too soon.
VB — I think it depends on where you live and the hospital. Yes, here they keep you at least 24 hours (which, by the way is not long enough to detect jaundice and is why most jaundiced babies end up having to go in for daily blood tests in doctor’s offices — more germs — when they could simply stay under the lights for an extra day or two and be fine), but I know here with c-sections they often send people home within 48 hours.
I also agree that it’s one thing for younger mothers and healthy babies, but once you hit the age of 35 the risks start increasing and at Nancy’s age she was already at risk for problems (which occurred) so she definitely should have been monitored a bit better.
November 18th, 2007 at 7:59 pm
Dear Nancy,my family and I watch your show everynight. We are so thrilled for you getting married and having 2 little blessings. When I read your blog it brings back memories of how I felt when my babies were born. Our boys are all grown up now, but I really wish I would have kept a journal or blog for those special moments. But I was always taking photos of them, and I also started reading to them when they were babies. My husband came in one day and found me reading “The Pokey Little Puppy” to our first son Stephen, he was crawling on the floor, and I was crawling behind him reading the story book!! So many wonderful memories. I know you will make a wonderful Mom!!! Little Lucy Elizabeth and John David are so blessed to have such wonderful parents. You and the twins are in our prayers. Sincerely, The Ambrose Family, Montreal, Canada xxooxx
November 19th, 2007 at 8:31 am
I hope the babies are ok. and they can come home for the hoolidays. which is the right age for nancy 48 or 49? also nancy’s husband is 41 now, how you said you met in college back in the late 70’s ? that means he was only a kid, the most 13 years old.
November 19th, 2007 at 10:12 pm
Hang in there! I so know what you are going through. I had twin girls 7 Months ago. Mine were also preemies and were in the NICU for 2 weeks. They came home on apnea monitors and medications. The first 3 months were rough! But those babies are so worth the work and the worries. Good Luck and God Bless You and your new family. Someday soon this will all just be a memory.
November 19th, 2007 at 11:43 pm

Hello Nancy:
I have been a fan since court TV–OJ Simpson days. You are an amazingly sincere and passionate human being whose love of life and respect for victims is admirable and I think the key to your success. People relate to you because you are one of us—you are real. I just love you!
I have been praying for you and your babies and your darling husband from the very first day I heard of your pregnacy.
What a blessed Thanksgiving this one is for you and your family.
God bless you and your family…continued good health, happiness, and success.
Love, one of your biggest fans (you can confirm this with my husband!)

Hi Nancy!
I too am a mother of twins. My “babies” are now 12 (almost 13~!) fraternal twin boys. Twins are a lot of work, and at times you will feel like “I Love Lucy” in the chocolate factory episode, but it is so worth it. It is very special to raise two separate beings that were born on the same day. I hope you feel well soon yourself and that you make many happy memories with your twin new gifts from Heaven.
God Bless you and your family!

Congratulations to nancy and her husband.
I really like Nancy Grace But I just have to comment on what she said about the way she met David, she said she and David met in the lale 70’s..THAT is not possible because he is 41 meaning in the late 70’s he was only 13 years old…He could not have been going to college or to have a romantic relationship with her. I’m happy she has the twins enjoy the gift god send you.

Nancy, I have been a fan of yours for a very long time. You say things like I would say them. I pray for you and the baby’s every day. I have 14 year old grandchildren.
What a miracle. A boy and a girl. Every baby is a miracle sent from GOD but one of each at the same time is a double miracle. I am also praying for the trouble in your personal life. You had nothing to do with what happened to that girl. Please know that. She had a lot of problems and one call from you did not cause her to do that. NOONE can cause a person to do that. I had a friend who did that and he was loved a lot but when they make up their mind there is nothing anyone can do. I had to work through that process myself. well have fun with those babies I sure did mine. God bless you and the babies.

Greetings Nancy…..
Wishing you, your husband and the precious little ones great love, health and happiness throughout the Holiday season and the New Year. Have you heard the saying..”When you kiss the cheek of a little baby, you have kissed the face of God? I bet you know what that statement means now.
God Bless all of you. My prayers are with you and yours.
My Best to you….
