The New Skip Hop City Chic Diaper Bag

Tags: CBB Faves

Yhst81248537599817_1973_3194910 Skip Hop is one of my favorite brands. I do not leave home without the Skip Hop Pronto Changing Pad Kit (and usually one of their diaper bags too!).  So you can imagine how I was so excited to hear that are debuting three new lines, the City Chic, the Via Messenger and the Via Backpack. In this review, we will be focusing on the City Chic.

The City Chic comes in four enchanting patterns, the Columbus Circle, Park Avenue Tulip, Flatiron Floral (pictured) and West Side Wave . I was lucky enough to receive a sample City Chic bag in the Flatiron Floral (black with turquoise and lighter blue, lime and white flowers on a matte laminated canvas, with a black leather trim). Retailing for $150, this stylish bag easily can be used a stroller bag or tote.  My favorite part was the removable mommy clutch that is attached to the one side.  Inside the clutch are slots for your credit cards, and several pockets with zippers.  You’re not going to be able to fit a lot – but a wallet, a cell phone and maybe a few items of makeup will definitely fit.  It was perfect for me.  If you need to leave the bag on your stroller, or just feel like being lighter, you can quickly detach the purse and use it as a wristlet or use the long skinny strap to sling it on your shoulder.  The clutch would be perfect for a flight or at a restaurant, when you can stow your diaper bag, but you might want to keep your wallet and lip gloss on you. Or even when your mother-in-law takes the baby for the day, you just unsnap the clutch and hand over the gorgeous diaper bag.

Skip Hop has also improved on the stroller attachments. I love my Expo, but always was afraid I would lose the longer strap (when I would take it off to attach the shorter stroller straps to my stroller). Now, all you do is take it out of the inside pockets and clip it around your stroller to attach to the d-rings. Genius and still hooks on easily!

While this City Chic looks much more glam than my canvas Expo, it is just as functional (and did I mention waterproof inside and out?). Daddies will probably not want to tote this around because it’s girly, but my husband prefers a regular backpack or just taking the Pronto out anyway. I plan on using the City Chic long after Ben and the new baby are out of the diaper bag stage.   Don’t you just love great diaper bags that don’t scream – THIS IS A DIAPER BAG!!

There are four inside pockets, lots of room inside and two roomy outside pockets on the sides for sippy cups/bottles, a zip-up top, nickel feet to keep the bottom of the bag off the ground, and a cute turquoise changing pad (that has a velcro closure) – which I’m sure I could slip a diaper or two and a small package of wipes inside). Though maybe a smaller version of the Pronto that fit into the City Chic or any other Skip Hop bag would be another project for this awesome brand to tackle.

The City Chic will be available for sale at the end of November.
