Goran Visnjic admits paternity of Croatian woman’s daughter
Although he was scheduled to take a DNA test in September, E.R. heartthrob Goran Visnjic, 35, canceled at the last minute, admitting he indeed fathered a daughter with a Croatian woman. Goran, who is married to sculptor Ivana Vrdoljak, slept with Mirela Rupic in 2006. He claimed he was drunk and jetlagged during a visit to his hometown of Sibenik, Croatia, where he met the woman.
Mirela claimed the actor knew about the pregnancy and paid her $1,000 a month until last July. After the monthly payments stopped, Mirela demanded Goran take a blood test to confirm paternity of 8 month old Lana Lourdes.
Mirela admitted she’s thrilled Goran confessed the truth about being Lana’s father.
When I learned that he admitted the child I started to cry. It proves that he is a great man.
A tribunal in Croatia is currently underway to determine the amount of child support Goran will be required to pay.
Goran and Ivana adopted a son, Tin, last April.

I don’t know that i’d call him a great man for simply doing the exact thing he SHOULD have done months ago when it all started but ok…it sounds more like the courts were gonna force his hand anyway so he thought he’d come out LOOKING like the good guy by admitting it first…doesn’t work for me but whatever…I am glad he’s finally done it and the daughter will get the resources she’s entitled to…and hopefully he WILL step up and be a man and a father…not by force or obligation (which is what it seems like now) but by choice…

Its obvious his wife has forgiven him so I hope this means he can be part of this babies life.
By the way does it have to say forced to pay her rather than has to pay her child support, makes it seem like the baby doesn’t deserve child support.

So his excuse is that he was drunk and jet lagged? Wow, he must be superman then because I dont know many men you are jetlagged on top of being drunk that want to have sex after a long trip.

The jetlagged bit really makes me laugh. Not just drunk, but drunk AND jetlagged. hahaha. Like people wouldn’t buy the excuse of being drunk and making a bad call, he has to throw in the jetlagged bit. Oh right, don’t forget about the jetlag – it all makes perfect sense now. (yes, that’s sarcasm)

I agree with Megan. I really like Goran too. I’m an ER fan and to find out that he not only cheated but then denied his own child made me not like him so much. He just came back to ER last week and was gone since last season so I wonder if he took a hiatus to straighten his mess out.
Nonetheless I hope now that he’s claiming the baby that he’ll take care of her not only financially but physically and emotionally as well.

oh my god, that is hideous! I mean, I can’t believe he even said that he was “jetlagged” …like that was an excuse, hello! I meqna common! I also cant believe she thinks he is a “good man” for admitting it. I mean, maybe yes…he did fess up so there is something to that, but to be honest…he waited a while and meanwhile had a baby! jUSTS HORRIBLE..

I think the mother of his daughter is just being nice. She could have made him sound like a horrible guy but she choose not to I guess for the sake of their child and hope that he will be involved with his daughter. I do wonder how this has affected his marriage especially since they adopted a child not too long ago?

I feel sorry for his wife, i’m sure she doesn’t want all our pity but he’s admitted to having an affair at the same time they were (probably) going through adoption procedures. Not exactly a “great” man more a rather-an-idiot man if you ask me…

First, Lana Lourdes is 8 months old, not five.
Mirela asked for about $2000 a month and I think Goran agreed to pay about $1800 and she seems to have agreed to that.
Although I don’t like how either of them have behaved in this situation, I agree with most posters here that Goran’s excuse is laughable. What’s should his wife think, that every time he has a drink and goes home to Croatia he sleeps with ’strange’ women (and to top it all of has unprotected sex and gets them pregnant when you have fertility issues).
I just feel sorry for that poor child, from the way things have been so far it doesn’t see like she’ll have a father in her life.

Honey, I’ve been jetlagged, on sleeping pills, and had a few drinks – all at the same time – and never once slept with someone unknowingly! What I DID do was fall asleep for about 10 hours.
At least he is admitting he made a mistake and is admitting paternity for the little girl. I feel for both his son and daughter, and especially, his wife.
I hope all this works out in the best interests of that little girl.

I think he (GV) is a great actor but it saddens me that he was paying for a child at one point and then the money just completely stopped. He must have at least at one point thought the child was his or else he wouldn’t have been paying her the grand a month to begin with.

Okay I love Goran on ER, I thought he was this great guy but this has just ruined it for me. It is one thing to cheat on your wife and concieve a child but then lie about it. He obviously remembers it because he now is admitting paternity and I think it was probably more than once. It makes me so mad that he adopted a baby and was taking care of it while not even sending his biological child money. I hope he is a physical father not just money. I have a feeling he adopted the baby with the wife to make her happy because she did not have a baby with him. Personally, I hope he ends up with his baby’s mom that might make me like him again.

The rumor is the drunken, jet-lagged story was only made by Goran under duress. The babymomma claimed, much more believably, that it was an affair of several weeks duration. There are many victims in this sad, sad story.

JK…I wondered the same, but having dated two men from that area of the world, I understood that its was an ALIEN culture , where narcissim is considered NORMAL (both men and women..ever heard of beware of teh eastern European mial order bride).. so I guess the woman is grateful that he finally THOUGHT of anyone else other than HIMSELF.

Am I the only one that thinks he should have gone through with the DNA test? I mean how can he be completely positive it is his otherwise? It was a one night stand with a woman he didn’t know well at all. I think before he publicly, personally, and financially assumes responsibility for this child he should make 100% sure it is his. I’m not saying he should have acted like Eddie Murphy, but maybe admitted the girl was probably his, gotten a test just to be sure, then taken full responsibility.

He didn’t sleep with this woman on only one occassion, Mirela alleges he slept with her on several occassions. This guy is a real jerk, he has a beautiful baby daughter that he has never met and which he pays minimal support towards. The little girl is absolutely beautiful, so gorgeous.
