Babytalk’s 2007 ‘Stinky Diaper’ awards take aim at Britney Spears
The 3rd annual ‘Stinky Diaper’ awards have been issued by Babytalk Magazine — and this is one award you definitely don’t want to be on the receiving end of!
Unfortunately for Britney Spears, a nasty custody fight, stint(s) in rehab and various child-rearing no-no’s have landed her at the top of the list of ‘winners’ for 2007. Mom to 2-year-old Sean and 14 1/2-month-old Jayden, Britney was taken to task by the editors of Babytalk for "drinking and smoking around the kids; allegedly filling their bottles with soda and feeding them chewing gum (an obvious choking hazard); and stretching their bedtimes much too late."
Winner of the ‘Shut Your Blowhole’ award was Charlize Theron, who in 2007 told Parade magazine that she wasn’t excited by the notion of being pregnant because she doesn’t "really want to look like a whale."
Also receiving some flack is New England Patriot’s quarterback Tom Brady, who was criticized by Babytalk for his brief stay in California following the birth of his first son John, 3 1/2-months, with ex-girlfriend Bridget Moynahan. According to the magazine, "despite having reportedly been granted a week’s leave by his team, Brady spent only a day with the two, hightailing it to North Carolina to suit up for a preseason game."
Real Time host Bill Maher – who received a ‘Stinky Diaper’ two years ago for calling pregnant women "unsexy" — is a winner yet again. This year, Babytalk railed on comments made by Bill in September that breastfeeding moms who nurse in public are "being too lazy to either plan ahead or cover up."
Finally, rounding out the awards was Virgie Arthur – the "cash-grubbing" maternal grandmother of 15-month-old Dannielynn Birkhead, the only surviving child of the late Anna Nicole Smith. According to Babytalk, which bestowed Virgie with the ‘Diapers for Dollars’ award, "Arthur’s every legal advance has been slapped by the courts, but if Dannielynn ever receives a share of the $472 million estate of Anna Nicole’s late husband, J. Howard Marshall II, Arthur is sure to be back."

Wow, basing a “stinky diaper” award on allegations against a mom who is clearly having issues is really lowbrow. If I bought the magazine, I would stop buying it immediately. Way to kick a mom when she is down.

As much as I think Britney needs help and needs to get her life in order, I think she is hounded by the media WAY too much. If she weren’t in the spotlight no one would have an idea who she was or how she raised her children. My point with that statement is this: there are way too many children in this world treated just the same and/or worse who need our attention more than Sean and Jayden. Thus why I plan to help out in some way once I get out of school and have the money. I’m still a poor college student.
Haha
Bill Maher’s comment is on the fence with me. Granted, I haven’t had children as of yet but I do feel at times like women could make more of an effort to go the bathroom or cover up more if they are out somewhere and need to breastfeed. I don’t think I would necessarily feel comfortable breastfeeding for all the world to see, but that’s just me!

I agree with what was said about Britney, but that %#$&Z&@ hag Virgie Arthur should be higher on the list! And I don’t see anything wrong with Bill Maher’s comment about women who nurse in public.

Bill Maher is obviously a jerk.
LOL @ Virgie Arthur!

While I do not agree with what Bill Maher said, I do also have an issue with women who let it all hang out in public. Not only is it illegal, but it’s inconsiderate to other mothers who don’t breastfeed until kindergarten (or long enough for their children to remember it) and would like to wait until their children are a bit older to explain about breasts and CERTAINLY before the children see any.

I think the Baby Talk should get “stinky diaper award” for being so mean to people and spreading the hatred. I don’t like Spears, but she is a mother after all.

Let me start off by saying that I love CBB. It is my second favorite website, topped only by Perez Hilton. That being said, I go there for the snarky stuff and here for the nice stuff. I don’t even bother reading the comments at Perez’s site. I love reading, and leaving, comments here because you guys filter the comments. While the comments here have been cleaned up, I feel like the site itself is getting snarky. First there was the post about Maxim’s MILF list (mostly negative comments from the CBB staff) or whatever it was called, and now this.
I realize that these are pieces taken from other magazines, and not the opinion of CBB. However, I feel like these snarky articles really bring down the site. It seems hypocritical almost to disallow snarkiness from the commentors, but then to almost egg them on with posts such as this as the Maxim one.

We all come into this world..by no choice of our own…A baby has to rely ..on the hope..he or she..was delivered into the arms of loving parents…BUT WE ALL KNOW THAT ISN’T ALWAYS THE CASE…..there is nothing more beautiful..than a happy healthy pregnant women…it is the one’s that are abused…that you feel sad for..but they are still beautiful…some of these negative people shouldn’t be given the gift of a child..AND THEY ARE A GIFT…they are the next generation..the next doctors…presidents…leaders..care givers…they are a blessed gift..more valueable than anything in this world..but many..don’t realize that…and it is them..we should feel sorry for

A child is a value- able gift….more value- able..than any thing else in the world…none of us ..came into this world..because we chose to….and a baby…runs the risk..of whether he or she has been delivered into the hands of loving or abusive care-givers…those who don’t realize the value…will some time in their lives learn what they have given up…if they don’t..THEY REALLY ARN’T WORTH MENTIONING…and if they are anti..pregnacy..too bad..their parents didn’t live by their rules….
