Will Smith talks about ‘the family business’
With his two young children serving as his co-stars in two major motion pictures in a little over one year, Will Smith makes no apologies for his family’s approach to Hollywood. The 39-year-old actor feels that introducing his kids to the profession that made he and wife Jada Pinkett Smith stars in their own right makes perfect sense.
Entertainment is our family business. It’s what we do, it’s how we eat, so at some level everyone is involved in the process.
Jada has the ultimate say-so in how their daughter Willow, 7 — currently appearing in I Am Legend — and son Jaden, 9 –who co-starred in The Pursuit of Happyness last year — are handled on-set, however. According to Will,
I’m not allowed to talk to the kids while they’re working. Jada says, ‘Once the movie starts you are their co-star and I am their mother. Any problems you have with those kids you can talk to their mother.’

They are such a beautiful family. You know, I can’t see Jaden & Willow getting really out of control like some child stars. I think that their parents, especially Jada, will do a good job of helping them keep a level head while enjoying success in a tough business. I think it’s great that they are getting into the business because they are actually great at acting. And I think they have a lot of potential. I can see them being even better than their parents if they continue at it, and those are big shoes to fill.

I think the Smith family is a very nice knit family, and I am proud to be from the same town as Will Smith.
May Will & jada, continue to make great movies.
