Update: Julianne Nicholson and Jonathan Cake welcome first child
Update: It appears as if we were mistaken and the couple actually had a son, not a daughter.
Originally posted at 10:18 a.m.: In better late than never news, Law and Order: Criminal Intent actress Julianne Nicholson, 36, and her husband, actor Jonathan Cake, 40, welcomed their first child, Ignatius, in early September. The new mom was caught saying,
I’m on maternity leave right now, but I’ll be back in January. We just had a baby three months ago. A friend thought up the name — Ignatius — and it just stuck.

Ignatius…wow. I read the paragraph and thought, oh, what a lovely old fashioned name and then noticed it says daughter.
That’s a bit cruel, I must admit.

Love her – don’t HATE the name but if baby Ignatius (I would call her Iggi
has the last name Cake – it sure does sound like a name straight out of some new children’s book series (think Junie B. Jones and Ignatius Cake hit Second Grade!) Anyways – congrats!

Ignatius is a boys name, from what she said she might not know this.
Congrats anyway and it’s not a well known name so many people won’t know it’s a boy name probably.

Sorry, but personally I think this is a terrible name for a little girl. Do people just think of themselves and not the child’s future at all??

Congrats to them. Regarding the name, I immediately thought of Ignatius J. Reilly from “A Confederacy of Dunces” and he is probably not someone you’d like associated with your child’s name. Not my cup of tea, but to each his/her own.

Are we sure it’s a girl? It’s a different name for a boy or a girl, but it sounds so masculine. Oh well, as long as the baby is healthy…

No. No, no, no. I’m sorry, but Ignatius? The only thing that comforts me is that her name might be Iggi Cake one day, which is pretty awesome. Let’s hope they give her a nickname! Congrats for Julianne, though. She’s a terrific (althouth underrated) actress.

ok … so nickname wise … (and not usually a fan of nicknames at all!) but I liked Iggi for a girl and now, Nate for a boy. Iggi for a boy makes me think of that little cartoon character…

Ignatius? Do these people WANT their child to hate them? Whoa! I hope the kid has quite the personality. A strong personality could possibly pull it off – otherwise I can foresee some primary school bullying…
