Newlywed Katherine Heigl excited to start family
If marriage is a lesson in compromise, Katherine Heigl, 29, and husband Josh Kelley, 27, seem to be off to a good start. The newlyweds are already talking babies and they tell OK! that although their timelines are different they’re willing to meet somewhere in the middle. Katherine — who says she’d like five or six children, in all — says,
I’d like to start talking children seriously in the next year, but Josh feels more like two years, so we’ll probably do a year and a half.
Added Josh,
My view is, let’s take it one day and one child at a time!
The couple were married Dec. 23. It is the first marriage for both.

So funny condsidering she was terrified about getting pregnant and being pregnant She was even thinking of adopting. Maybe doing the movie Knocked up changed her mind. (a total guy flick, My husband laughed through the whole movie)though in an article she did say that doing the movie Knocked up was sexist protraying women in a bad light. I kind of figured she would change her mind when she got married.
They make a cute couple, their babies will be gorgeous Im sure of it.

Is it my imagination or did I read somewhere that Katherine couldn’t imagine being pregnant and gaining weight? I remember getting the impression that she didn’t want children. Glad to see that she’s entertaining the thought. They’re a cute couple.

why is it that people never seem to take time to just enjoy being married, before rushing into having kids? marriage is hard enough as it is especially in the early stages, i’d hate to bring a child into the world without first being 100% positive that this relationship is really going to be for the long haul. nobody thinks things might not turn out as planned once you’re actually married, but it can’t hurt to take the time to get a feel for it first before bringing another life into the mix.

I completely agree with you mpn, people don’t take time to enjoy being married. I wonder if there is a study out on divorce rates and how soon children were introduced into the family.

Actually, studies have been done where it was determined that between 80-90% of people start having babies 3-4 years after they get married. Not that I don’t see your point, but getting a divorce is not primarily a function of not having spent enough time figuring out if your marriage was stable before you had kids.

I found your site by accident, and I’m guessing that men don’t normally make comments here. However, I’ve long been interested in how we, “the average” perceive the lives of the famous, especially when it comes to family.
The story of Katherine Heigl and Josh Kelley thoroughly intrigues me, primarily because I relate: I am younger than my wife; She wanted a “lot” of children, while I was somewhat more reluctant; and Katherine is beautiful, as is my darlin’. But get this …
Interestingly, we ended up with five children, though my wife wanted six: three girls and two boys. In reality, though I honestly would have been fine with one child, I wouldn’t trade the five I have, nor my wife’s motherly intuition in seeking to bring them into our life. Katherine would be impressed … And if Josh is cooperative, he’ll be blessed.
It will truly be fun for me to follow the story of these two young people. Though I’m not famous, I do relate.
