I just have to laugh at the mixup. I missed it all and heard about her daughter on E!’s Top Ten.

But congrats to her and Laird on their new little girl. I think the name is cute…probably just as cute as Brody Jo is.

Yeah, now the “Jo” makes more sense but I still think of Brody as all boy.

Sorry I was a little unclear – I can see how you got that from my post. I can go into a little more detail here. My son was born at 23 weeks and lived for 2 days in the NICU. He died due to extreme prematurity. I have a friend where the same thing happened with her, son born at 25 wks, passed away the same day (due to extreme prematurity). She went on to have a baby girl, born under the same circumstances (25 wks), and she lived. While my son was alive, I was told repeatedly the survival rates were so much better for girls than boys and that if only my son were a girl, his chances would have shot up dramatically. So I guess for me, the reason I would want to find out the sex is to prepare myself for the NICU battle ahead. I know all children are different and just b/c a child is a girl and not a boy does not guarantee survival, but TO ME, I would be better prepared for what lies ahead. I don’t see it as preparing for the eventual death of my child, rather preparing for what possible struggles I may face. Hope this helps to clarify my original statement

I think it is very emotional when you find out the sex of your babe, whether it is during pregnancy or after. It is always a surprise to see what the baby looks like, so the surprise element is still always there.

Regardless, congrats to them, hope she is happy and healthy!!

Congrats! I’m sure the little girl is a joy to Laird, Gabrielle, and big sister Reece!! Although I personally think Brody fits more for a boy, I think it’s ok for a girl. Hope to see pics soon.

When she announced her pregnancy I had a feeling it was another girl. Congrats to them. As for finding out the sex, I personally like to know. I’m not a patient person and I like to have the room and baby stuff picked out, and it’s easier for a baby shower, instead of just having to buy green or yellow IMO.

When I saw Jo instead of Joe, I wondered if it wasn’t a girl rather than a boy.

I have to agree with the notion that it’s a surprise either way – just depends on when you want to know!! Personally, I would have found out on Day 1 if I could have!!!

Congrats – I like the name much better for a girl!
