Kerry Katona talks about New Years Eve brawl, says she’s worried about baby
A pregnant Kerry Katona says that a fight with her mother-in-law on New Years Eve has left her fearful that her unborn baby — a boy — may have been hurt in the scuffle.
I had nearly miscarried this child early in my pregnancy and I’m still terrified of losing it. The midwife found the heartbeat, but I haven’t felt the baby move since that night and I can’t stop worrying. I’ve got to have a scan on Tuesday and I hope that sets my mind at rest.
The brawl broke out at the home Kerry — a former member of Atomic Kitten — shares with husband Mark Croft; The two were hosting a New Years Eve party. According to Kerry, 27, Mark’s mom Marilyn Croft had too much to drink when she said "You’re no daughter-in-law of mine!" Said Kerry,
Then she smacked me full force across the face and I fell. God knows how I didn’t hit my bump. When I got up I had a bright red palm print on my face and I shouted for Mark and told him ‘Your Mum just hit me.’
He went ballistic and asked her what the hell she was doing hitting a pregnant woman. But Marilyn just said ‘It’s all that Kerry Katona’s fault’ talking about me as if I was a stranger. She went home and I went to bed in shock. The next day I was still so stressed I had to have the midwife out to check the baby.
The baby is the second for Kerry and Mark; They already have a 10-month-old daughter Heidi Elizabeth. Kerry also has two older daughters — Molly Marie, 6, and Lilly-Sue, 4 ½ — with ex-husband Brian McFadden.

I really don’t see the point why she is getting this into the media. Its time she concentrates on her kids 100% instead of wanting the publisity all the time.
I loved her when she was still married to Brian. She looked so happy when she just got Molly and ten Lily, but just don’t know what to think of her now.

Oh God, she’s always got some story, doesn’t she? I feel so sorry for her children…

I wanna know why, if she’s SO worried about her son, she’s waited this long to have an US. If she really cares and really thinks he’s in danger, she should have been at a hospital on New Year’s Day, not a week later!!

Does anyone know if this occured before or after Kerry got the tattoo? If this scuffle happened before, I don’t understand why she would take that risk if she’s so worried with not feeling the baby move.
Regardless of anything that’s happened, I hope the baby is born healthy.

I agree with sylvana, Kerry seemed so happy when she was with Brian but now i think she is a mess_i feel for her children and i dont really think much of her husband either and to be totally honest Molly and Lilly would be better of in the care of Brian.

No words for this lady

i dont know much about her but it seems like everytime she is in the news its some negative drama. i really hope her kids are safe because her home life seems unreal.

I think the most important part of this story is that Kerry was physically attacked. Whether she “brought it on herself” or not, I think Kerry should have called the police. I don’t condone violence of any kind against women.
Nicole, you can’t always get an US as soon as you want one. Even in a case like this your doctor is going to have you set up an appointment. Kerry did the right thing by contacting her midwife as soon as possible. Those women are saints and are a tribute to motherhood.

I think if you got knocked down at six months pregnant and went to an emergency room, there is no question that you would be able to have an ultrasound that day. No way would you have to wait a week. She’s in Britian, not some developing country. I live half the year in England, and though it may be hard to schedule routine ultrasounds whenever you want (because of NHS), you can certainly get emergency care.
This whole thing smacks of a desperate publicity stunt and her life seems to get crazier by the day. The fact that her husband’s mother, a middle-aged woman, would smack her pregnant daughter-in-law, speaks volumes about the type of family she married into – as well as Kerry. I can’t believe this woman used to be relatively normal.

I agree with Nicole completely, she should have went to the Hospital ASAP. And Dawn, I’ve never heard of a doctor putting you off for a week if you were in fear for your baby. Even if they schedule appointments a GOOD doctor would get you in ASAP.

Wow. This girl seems like the U.K.’s Britney waiting to happen

Is it me, or does it seem like she is always after attention? You would think she would want to keep her private life more private, and not go on about it to the whole world. Especially if she is going through a pregnancy that she has had a hard time with. I also feel sorry for her kiddies.I would prefer Molly and Lily to be with Brian and Delta.. To me they seem more stable and low key, which i think would be good for them.

Dawn- ITA! I can’t believe people are criticizing Kerry when the poor woman was phyiscally attacked (and to add insult to injury, it was by her own mother-in-law)!
I must ask, if it were Katie Holmes, Angelina Jolie, Gwen Stefani, etc. that was pregnant and had been physically attacked, would you be criticizing them? Or would you be offering them your sympathy? Personally, I think there’s a double-standard when it comes to Kerry.
I also think that the comment about her being “The UK’s Britney waiting to happen”, I don’t think that’s true. As far as I know, there have been no reports of Kerry doing anything (apart from possibly drinking while pregnant, although she did indicate not to long ago that she at least tries to stay sober while she’s pregnant) that has actually put her kids in danger.
In any case, I wish Kerry all the best of luck with this pregnancy, and I hope her little boy is born healthy and happy!

I reserve judgement on this story, all i will say is i read a totally conflicting report in the News of the world.
I dont like how Kerry managed to get parent of the year in the uk with all the reports that come out about her!!

In the article Kerry admits to still smoking 5 cigarettes a day, as well as drinking alcohol. She claimed she had only had two glasses of champagne when the incident happened, however many of the guests says she drank several vodkas and was very drunk. She even says smoking and drinking while pregnant isn’t dangerous! A very bad role model.

I had to reply to the last post from “annoynomous” (their spelling, not mine!).
Kerry has freely admitted to smoking and drinking while pregnant with her 4th baby, and recently had a tattoo while pregnant as well.
If you think this is acceptable behaviour during pregnancy, I hope you change the way you think before you have children of your own..
I’m assuming you dont already have kids as no decent mother would ever state that drinking or smoking while pregnant isnt “putting her kids in danger”. As if.

“I must ask, if it were Katie Holmes, Angelina Jolie, Gwen Stefani, etc. that was pregnant and had been physically attacked, would you be criticizing them? Or would you be offering them your sympathy? Personally, I think there’s a double-standard when it comes to Kerry.”
Katie Holmes, Angelina Jolie, and Gwen Stefani did not smoke like chimneys and consume alcohol regularly while pregnant with multiple children, become cocaine addicts after getting divorced, admit to having a cocaine relapse while pregnant with their third child in addition to smoking (same child was born over a month prematurely), and insist on getting a tattoo against widespread recommendations not to during an already extremely high risk pregnancy in which the baby almost died early on.

Can I just add that I am fast approaching the conclusion that something very serious is going to happen to one of her children, living or unborn, before this woman changes her ways and realises what she has done to them.
I believe that is what it is going to take to stop this neglect, because lets face it, that is what it is at the end of the day.

Ahh the world of double standards! a picture of anglina giving chip to Shiloh but yet not one peep…. yet if one taboild says britney is on drugs…. its proven true… she was in the hospital and tested CLEAN… and no one is talking about it…
this woman yes granted she was attacked… but the ER is open 24/7…. isnt she an entertainer … she couldnt act like she was in pain
January 7th, 2008 at 5:59 pm
First and foremost I don’t condone violence of any sort against women, especially against a pregnant woman but waiting that long to have an ultrasound? It seems fishy to me seeing as how this pregnancy has already been in danger. Most doctors would have done some testing right then and there. This is the same woman who was getting tattooed which to me was also unbelievable.

Hi! OK, the reason I expect Kerry has gone to the media about this “attack” is because a rather long article was published on Sunday (6th) in The News Of The World telling Mark’s mum’s side of things – i.e. that Kerry attacked her! So I guess Kerry is either trying to put right a wrong (if her version is right) – or makes excuses for her behaviour AGAIN (if the mother-in-law’s story is right). Her mother-in-law also said that Kerry was drunk on vodka on New Year’s Eve and smoking all through the night. Her version is that the fight broke out when she tried to take baby Heidi into a different room, because she thought the party was too smoky for her and Kerry didn’t want her to interfere. To put it politely
Whatever the truth (and I guess we’ll never know) – Kerry certainly has her demons and I just hope that Social Services are keeping an eye on her just like they would on any other young mum who does the things Kerry does.

Tiff – I think she’s already happened. Only difference is no-one’s made a serious challenge for custody of the kids yet. Brian doesn’t even seem to stay in one place for long enough to form a stable home to raise kids in. I can’t help but think that if I were Brian, I’d be back in England quick smart and be prepared to stay for as long as it takes to get them back.

Carrie, the real world is different from how you think it is. Unless your doctor is a rare gem, you WILL have to wait for a US, belive me I know.
“Katie Holmes, Angelina Jolie, and Gwen Stefani did not smoke like chimneys and consume alcohol regularly while pregnant with multiple children, become cocaine addicts after getting divorced, admit to having a cocaine relapse while pregnant with their third child in addition to smoking (same child was born over a month prematurely), and insist on getting a tattoo against widespread recommendations not to during an already extremely high risk pregnancy in which the baby almost died early on.”
Again, you are allowing your personal opinion of Kerry to shadow the truth of this incident. Her MIL had NO RIGHT at all to touch her. I don’t care if Kerry is the devil incarnate, no one has the “right” to be physically abused by ANYONE.
As for the Brian fans. He is no saint himself, which is why he doesn’t have custody.

K-fed was no saint either. It may be a question of lesser evil. I don’t actually know much about Kerry Katona except the reports and comments here on CBB. Stepping out of the spotlight for a moment, if Kerry Katona’s behavior were that of a non-famous parent the children would have been yanked by social services (at least here in the states). Just as with Britney Spears, authorities appear to be ignoring the dangerous behavior of an obviously unstable parent.
