Nicole Kidman expecting a baby with Keith Urban
Update: Nicole Kidman’s rep has confirmed that she and Keith Urban, both 40, are expecting a baby. Rumors grew louder today when the actress dropped out of a scheduled film role, but sources say Nicole wished to keep the pregnancy quiet due to prior miscarriages and an ectopic pregnancy. The publicist said,
Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban confirmed today that they are expecting ababy. The coupleare thrilled!
Nicole’s mother has told the Australian press that she ‘thinks it’s in July‘ in regards to the due date. When asked outside a restaurant about the pregnancy this evening, Nicole replied that she was ‘very excited…thrilled,’ but refused comment on the sex of the baby, citing it as ‘too personal.‘

Update December 29th: Her Australian rep has denied the rumor, saying,
Itis incorrect. She must have had about 30 babies by now. She’s inAustralia making a film and her family are in Australia. She’s happilyensconced away somewhere having a few days’ break. As far as we’reconcerned it’s another rumor out of London.

She and husband Keith Urbanreportedly shared the happy news with family and friends over theChristmas holiday. Nicole and Keith, both 40, were married in June2006; Nicole is already mom to 14-year-old Isabella and 12-year-old Connor from her previous marriage to actor Tom Cruise.

I hope is true. I just didnt get that she still has a movie to shoot early this year. This would mean, maybe she still in the early stage of this pregnancy, maybe would be better if the news had not leaked yet giving her past problems.

I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s true this time.
She said not long ago that she was going to just go on Keith’s tour with him instead of doing more movies, so maybe that was a way of explaining why she wasn’t taking any more roles.
Halle Berry and JLo flat-out denied for a long time before they finally confirmed.

Why the hell can they not leave her alone she is a women who has found it hard to get pregnant and did anyone stop and think that maybe this being unconfirmed by Nicole and Keith would hurt them.
I have been married for 7 years i am 25 my husband 29 and we have no children and it is not from the lack of trying god knows how many times i have been asked ‘when are you going to have a baby time is ticking on and still no little ones’ or us being asked 24/7 when i have a bit of a tum from fluid retention ‘ooh when is the baby coming’ there is just to much pressure and more so when your younger sister has had her 2nd a year after her first and having people looking at us with well personal questions that is none of their business in the first place!
and to top it off your doctor telling ua that it would be dangerous at this time for me to be pregnant anyway and still have to sit there watching everyone else gush over their baby belly or little baby and knowing that it might not ever get to me.
So i really feel for her and what she has to go through i say leave them the hell alone and when it happens they will tell the world when it is right for them and not have someone blab it to the papers or the magazines saying OOH SHE IS LOOKING A LITTLE HEAVY AROUND THE WAIST AREA IS THERE A BABY IN THERE!!

I am confused! I thought that, like Mousie said, Nicole had stated that she wasn’t going to be doing any more movies for awhile….But yet her rep claims she is shooting one right now! I suppose, though, that it could be possible that she meant that she was not taking on any more roles at this time, but is finishing up the movies she had already agreed to do.
Anyway, I sincerely hope that, if the rep was telling the truth, that this rumor will fade quickly. Nicole has made no secret of her desire for another baby, and given her age and past problems carrying to term (she recently stated she has had both a miscarriage and an ectopic pregnancy), she may very well be having trouble concieving. If that is the case, then these rumors must make her feel awful.
I know that J-Lo’s rep (not to mention J-Lo herself!) denied that she was pregnant at first, so I suppose it’s possible that Nicole’s rep is lying as well. However, the fact that the Nicole rumors started in the Daily Mail, which is basically the British equivelant of Star Magazine, makes me think it isn’t true. In J-Lo’s case, the rumors began simply because she was sporting a rather obvious baby bump at her concerts and in various photos.
Not only that, but it does seem like reps ARE truthful most of the time. For example, several months ago, there was a rumor that Angelina Jolie was going to adopt a little boy from Prague. Her rep denied those rumors….and obviously s/he turned out to be right. Katie Holmes was also rumored to be pregnant a few months ago, and her rep denied the rumors. Obviously, the rep was being truthful as Katie would be sporting a rather obvious bump by now if the rumors had been correct.
Until we either see a picture of Nicole appearing to have a baby bump or Nicole confirms the news, I am taking this with a huge grain of salt.

I also want to add that I actually don’t think that Halle ever lied about her pregnancy. When she confirmed, she mentioned that she was either three or four months along (I forget which). Therefore, it is very possible that, when the rumors first started, she wasn’t yet pregnant.

I believe she is this time. Xtina, Halle, JLO’s reps all denied it even up until the times it looked like they had swallowed a watermelon. Somehow, for Nichole, this time, I believe it is true. I don’t believe she will make a public announcement though, until she is past the stage where miscarriage concerns are over.

I know a lot of people criticize her for not being ‘hands on’ with her two kids Isabella and Connor, but from what I’ve read in her interviews, I think its very much the kids two decisions to live with their dad, and that it actually hurts her a bit. I’ve read her say she spent her 20s raising her kids, and that she loved it, and I think she is and will be a great mother!

Natasha, a lot of people want to wait until the pregnancy is ‘viable,’ usually 12 weeks. Especially with Nicole’s history of losses I am not surprised they held off as long as they could.
Can you imagine confirming early and then having to release a statement that you miscarried? How awful. I’m sure that’s why many avoid it.

I totally respect their choice to keep it to themselves for a while, even when it got out. Most anyone who has her medical history would do the same. I have suffered two miscarriages, and I have fertility problems myself, and I know that when I got pregnant with my son, I waited a while before I told anyone but the very closest of the close to me.

Well I’ve learned one thing: celeb reps LIE, LIE, LIE! Actually, I do understand why so many reps deny things. Especially in Nicole’s case where she has lost previous pregnancies.

I wonder how far along she is that she is confirming it, maybe 4 months. I don’t care if the reps deny it, but it’s dumb when they deny it a few days ago and now less than a week later confirmed it, what was the difference of a few days. Also I for one believe a lot of the new york post and blind items, and once again they proved to be right with nicole. Isabella and conner sure have an extended family now, with another sibling coming and I have a feeling katie will get pregnant in 2008 too.

I know she’s wanted to have a baby for a long time and with miscarriages and an ectopic pregnancy it’s no wonder she would want to keep it private for a while. I wouldn’t be surprised if a few of those times before when everyone was guessing she was pregnant she really was… but miscarriage is sad and scary enough I can’t imagine how sad it would be to have the whole world speculating and asking if you’re pregnant at the same time you’re miscarrying that very longed for baby.
She and Keith Urban have been through a lot in their marriage and I think it shows great strength that they are still together. I wish them all the best in the future!

I also hope that she is far enough along that announcing the pregnancy was her choice at this time, and not due to all the media speculation. A friend of mine had several miscarriages and waited until she was past the 4 month mark to announce her pregnancy, then sadly lost her baby not too long after.

I am so happy for her, and hope things work out, esp. after waiting so long! It can be risky at age 40(esp. if it’s a first baby) but not impossible; I just had my 11th baby(he’s now 9 mos. old) at 40,and despite complications(Cholestasis; a rare liver disorder of pregnancy) he was induced at 37 weeks and everything ended up ok.Hoping everyhting goes well for them!

Well, if she is due in July then she is still in her first trimester and I can understand why she and her rep would deny the rumor. I am due July 1oth which puts me at about 14 weeks and we are just now telling people. I hope she has a very healthy pregnancy. Pregnancy can be stressful and fear of miscarriage can be very tough. I had my last child 9 1/2 yrs ago and she was born on July 10th. I got pregnant mid Oct. w/ her, so they’ve known for awhile and tried to protect the fragility of it all, understandably so. Nicole is notoriously private and when she doesn’t want pics taken of her and her children, they don’t get taken. I just hope she doesn’t “hide” too much from the paps, cause I selfishly would like to see at least a few preg photos. She will be so gorgeous w/ a pregnant body, as she is soooo tall and slim.

I was so happy to see on ET and to read at several reputable news agencies that she is actually pregnant. I completely understand why she would want to keep it a secret. I had fertility problems as well, and I only told my parents until I finished my first trimester. A lot of people suspected, but I followed the advice of many who had miscarried to not get overly excited until I was officially out of the woods. Imagine having to turn around and tell everyone you have miscarried. When you’re young, or don’t have fertility issues, you can tell people right out of the gate. But, for many of us, it’s a decision to try and keep things quiet until you feel confident the baby will make it. I am so happy for Nicole and Keith, and respect her decision to stop working and think about herself and her new family.

I’m just confused…If she is really due in July, then what are they talking about the sex of the baby for? I’m due in August and have so much more time before I can even think about what the sex is…
Maybe she’s alot further along than we all thought??
Unless she had CVS maybe?? But, doesn’t that carry a risk of miscarriage? You’d think she’d wanna stay clear of things like considering her OB history…
Either way, I’m very happy for her and Keith. I love Nicole and I’m so glad she’s finally getting to be pregnant, since it seems that’s what she’s wanted for so long…

Isabella and Connor must be so thrilled to be getting another little brother or sister. I can’t help but feel, however, that they’ve been thrown for a loop pretty hard these past two and a half years, with both mom and dad remarrying and respawning.

Rosana- The thing about Connor and Bella not calling Nicole “mom” is only sort of true. They call her “mum” which is the Australian and british term for “mom”. Her quotes in that one interview were taken completely out of context.
Nicole- I’m guessing she probably DID have a CVS. Considering the fact that she is 40, the benefits of having a CVS probably outweigh the risks, even with her history. Also, from what I’ve heard, while CVS does carry some risk of miscarriage, the risk is much lower than with an amniocentesis.
Even if she didn’t have a CVS, she probably said that revealing the sex was “too personal”, to at least try to prevent the media from hounding her about the sex, whether or not she actually knows already (she may have even simply meant that sharing whether or not she and Keith know or want to know the sex is “too personal”).
At any rate, I highly doubt that she is any further along than has been stated (i.e., her mother’s statement that she thinks Nicole is due in July), since she isn’t really showing yet.

I am so happy for Nicole and Keith. I know with all of the media attention that surrounds them, they deservedly wanted to keep this news to themselves and their families as long as possible. It is a shame that because you have a career in the public, you are allowed no private life. So in saying that, I wish them both the best. They seem to be so in love and God has blessed them with a baby! That is really wonderful news. I have always admired Nicole and truly wish her a safe pregnancy. Good luck to you both and God Bless!

Heather- Nicole already IS a good mother! I don’t mean to criticize, but it just rubs me the wrong way when people seem to forget that Nicole is ALREADY a mother!
And BTW, it’s not just Nicole that I feel this way about. I also didn’t like how, when Angelina Jolie was pregnant with Shiloh, the media made it sound like Shi was her first child, when in fact she already had two other children (Maddox and Zahara).
