Mariska Hargitay talks about August’s second Christmas
Law & Order: SVU actress Mariska Hargitay sat down with Page Six Magazine to discuss the holidays and how son August, 18 months, was enjoying his second Christmas. And it appears the holiday season taught August a few new words, as during the interview he could be heard saying "Santa" and "ho, ho, ho."
Mariska pointed out her Christmas tree that was adorned with white lights, red beaded garland and special ornaments. Among those, she says,
This is August’s shoe, from his first Easter. Nothing’s cuter than that.
And just how did August adjust to having a Christmas tree decorated with beautiful trinkets?
I thought that he might pull the tree down. He’s a squirmy guy. But so far he hasn’t pulled one ornament off.
For Christmas this past year, Mariska and her husband Peter Hermann took August skiing in Switzerland with Peter’s sister and her family. Usually, the family isn’t able to do this because of Mariska’s work schedule, but the writer’s strike made it possible.
Normally, I’m working, and I’m not the regular mom who can get her house ready for the holidays. But this Christmas, we started playing music on December 7. The tree went up that night — earlier than ever. I don’t skimp on Christmas, but the day after Christmas? I’m done. That’s when I’m like, ‘Stay with the times, people!’
During the interview, Mariska took time to play with August. At one point, he and his mother made goofy faces at one another and were clearly enjoying themselves. Afterwards, the 43-year-old said about her son,
He’s so fun. This is the happiest kid I’ve ever seen.

They are so cute together! And it’s no surprise that he’s a happy little boy! He’s always smile and bright-eyed most times there’s photos of him!

I’ve said it before but I’ll say it again: I LOVE this family! August is soooo cute, and his face has such personality; he definitely looks like a happy little guy. Mariska and Peter are obviously so smitten with him, and I’m so happy for them!

I love August, he’s sooooooooooo cute, but I think it may be time for another one. After all her SVU character is apparently going to be considering motherhood soon on the show so it could be written in(I would looooove that!!)
