Scottish TV presenter Sarah Heaney expecting second child
Scottish TV presenter Sarah Heaney, 27, and her husband, jewellery designer Ed Adams are expecting their second child in May. They are already parents to son Edward William, 18 months.
Sarah discovered her second pregnancy while in Cyprus and believed at first that she was suffering from food poisoning.
I was convinced at first that I’d just eaten something bad. Someone else in the crew was sick too, and I put it down to a spot of food poisoning. Thankfully, it passed. But when I got back home, I started to feel unwell again and thought something wasn’t right. I did a test and discovered I was pregnant. I was delighted.
Her main concern is to have a healthy baby, but she would prefer another son.
Well, if I have a girl this time I might be tempted to call our family complete, and deep down I don’t really want to do that. I’ve always felt I’d like three kids, so having another boy this time would give me the excuse to try for a wee girl next time. But I’m really just splitting hairs.
I’ll be delighted with whatever we get. It’s up to God and that’s fine with me. I’ll just be hoping for a wee healthy bundle and I’ll be happy.
Sarah also discussed how motherhood has changed her.
I’m really loving being a mum and Ed’s the most fantastic dad. The thought of another one on the way is really exciting. I sometimes think to myself, ‘Would I ever go back to my life as it was before marriage and kids?’ And the answer is definitely, ‘No.’ I’m really happy. Having kids is just the best experience of my life. I can’t wait for this one to arrive.
Sarah is a former model but she doesn’t understand celebrity mums who become obsessed with losing their pregnancy weight.
I just don’t understand all that — all these people who claim to lose three stone [42 lbs] in three weeks. It’s madness.
It’s not fair to put the pressure on yourself, and these women certainly shouldn’t be held up as role models. I put on about two stones [28 lbs] with Eddie, which wasn’t a huge amount – I was lucky. But even then, it took me nine months to put on the weight and a lot more than nine months to get it off again.
There was no miracle cure, either. I just ate less and went to the gym three times a week. My bump’s growing again so I’ll be facing the same thing after this one’s born. But it’s all worth it.

The thing that always confuses me about hearing about women finding out they’re pregnant is that they didn’t notice their period was missing. Don’t they notice?

Kayla- My guess is that Sarah, and other celebs who have mentioned not realizing they were pregnant for awhile, probably have irregular menstrual cycles. In otherwords, it’s probably hard for them to tell if they have missed a period, since missing one (or possibly even two) might actually be normal for them.

maybe just maybe when you are rushing around working and trying to bring up another child you don’t have the time to work out dates of when you are due your period etc… just a thought and maybe sarah heaney was only a few days late and actually didn’t miss a period at all. Anyway its so refreshing to hear celebrities talk about the whole weight issue after kiddies. All these skinny minnies who have tummy tucks and lipo just after giving birth really set a bad and negative example for other women.
