Update: Helena Bonham Carter and Tim Burton’s daughter’s name
Update: Sarah’s note: I apologize, this should not have been posted. Indiana Rose has not been confirmed by either of the stars reps, and is a rumor that has been circulating for weeks, which her representative denied to me back in December. If they officially release their daughter’s name, we will be sure to post it.

Originally posted 6 am: Actress Helena Bonham Carter, 41, and director Tim Burton, have apparently named their daughter Indiana Rose Burton, according to the German television site VIP. The coupled welcomed their daughter on December 15th and since then have spoke about their efforts in trying to find a name — they thought they were having a boy.

Well I can’t help but feel a tiny bit let down… I was eagerly waiting for this announcement and I was expecting something totally different after Indiana Rose was written off as a rumor a few weeks back. But still, it is a lovely name.

I love that name! They are a great couple, huge talent!

Pretty name, though I’m surprised they went with something that popular. Why does it seem as though every baby born in the last ten years has Rose as a middle name?

Isn’t that what they were rumored to have her named her when she was born?

I personally don’t believe this to be true. “Indiana Rose” was the name that a lot of sources said was her name weeks ago and that was before Helena said they hadn’t named her yet.

I don’t know. Somehow i see them taking a more traditional name. They named their son Billy and wanted to name their second child if it was another boy, Jack, Milo and they had some other more common names. So i am wondering if they would really go for the somewhat more unusual name Indiana. Not that i don’t like it. It’s really nice. Oh well, time will tell before they announce it themselves!

I like Rose, and I’d like to use it as a middle name when I have kids (it was my grandmother’s name), but I’m not keen on the Indiana. I’d have expected something maybe a little kookier, or even something classic, less popular, from those two. Wasn’t Billy Ray named after both their fathers? I wonder if there’s any significance to Indiana’s name.

i love her shoes in this pic

I’m with Anna, it sounds like they’re just recycling that older rumor about her name. Given what Helena’s choices were for boys, I think they’d go with something a little more traditional. It is a pretty name though
Sarah’s note: I totally agree, and am in the process of updating the post. This should never have gone live on the site. I think perhaps Shannon wasn’t aware of the earlier rumor and denial.

Am I correct in assuming that the new trend is to name girls after US states?

Indiana? We named the dog Indiana.

i’m in love with that name! it has a really nice ring to it. congrats to them

No offense to people from Indiana, but it seems so mundane and unglamorous a locale to be honored with a name! What about Duluth? Or Cincinnati? Or Newark?
But then I feel the same way about Alabama Luella Barker’s name.

I remember reading somewhere that they went with Primrose. I’ll get back to you with the source

Rachel-Jane: Yes Billy Ray was named after Tim & Helena fathers (Bill & Ray respectively)
Maybe they will do the same with their daughter – Elena Jean Burton has a lovely ring to it.

Seems weird that that would be the name given the rumor prior to when she supposedly had a name, but according to StarPulse supposedly Helena’s rep told WENN that such a name was “probably likely” though I wouldn’t know where to find the original quote!

Speaking of Indiana and mysteries, have we ever figured out Casey Affleck’s second sons name???
Sarah’s note: No, they want it kept private.
January 31st, 2008 at 6:12 pm
I think they’ll have named her something simple, like they did with Billy. Like Molly or Lucy, if not their mothers’ names.

I’m confused…aren’t birth records public, at least in the US? Anyone can request an informational copy of a birth certificate.

for some odd reason i like Primrose for them
seems to fit

If it’s true, I think it’s very cute. Can’t wait to see a picture.
January 31st, 2008 at 11:13 pm
Surely not??? But if so, then I like it!
February 1st, 2008 at 9:49 am
I’m totally confused by now!
Still my bet is on Ella or Eliza Jean (after their mothers). Because: why would they name their son after their fathers but the daughter not after the mothers?? I like Primrose too. But I think that rumor started because Tim Burton and Helena have been photographed walking through the neighbourhood Primrose Hill a lot!
Sage fits with them too. Or Florence/ Flora.

Eliza Jean is cute
and I like it with Billy Ray
