"It’s funny how life never works out the way you planned it, but it always works out far better than you ever could have imagined. At least for me it seems."

"There's nothing fun about the age they're at right now. Each one on their own is insanely fun, but the combination of the two of them after hours is just chaos. I don't remember the last time I slept like a human being. Right now it's just brother-waking-up-brother, which is really the nightmare. "

Céline Dion ‘relieved’ that René-Charles loves school

Tags: News, Quotes

Celinedion_0480_cbb_2Céline Dion, mom to 7-year-old son René-Charles, was initially anxious about taking her little boy on tour with her, as it would require homeschool. Having had a negative experience with education herself, the 39-year-old songstress had her doubts about her son’s reaction to school. Luckily, her worries were for naught.

Yes, René-Charles has been homeschooling for almost two years now. It was a big, big concern for me — the school thing. My husband was extremely smart in school, but I wasn’t. I didn’t want my son to suffer my experience of school.

He’s started first grade, but he’s in second grade in math. It’s such a relief for me that he loves school, and he’s succeeding. I couldn’t ask for better.

Céline’s concert, Céline Dion: That’s Just The Woman In Me, premieres February 15th at 9 pm on CBS.

That’s definitely a big fear of mine too. I HATED school, I just had such a hard time understanding the material. I worry that my son may be the same. He’s only 17 months though, so we have time.

  2. Snapper Says:

So, does that mean he’s homeschooling presently? Or that he’s in a school but she’s taking him out to homeschool.

  3. Lilo Says:

Homeschool and no friends of his age… ?

  4. MiMi Says:

I think if she had a bad experience in school, then she would be that much more conscious about ensuring her children have a positive association and drastically different experience…it’s top of mind for her.

I’m sure her son has the most amazingly gifted teachers who inspire him to learn; I think anybody’s kids could do well as long as we really believe in them & put lots of effort into it as parents.

“School” and “Homeschool” are 2 different things. The atmosphere is totally different. I wonder if he has activities he participates in with other children his age?
