Brooke Burke on bed rest, baby showers, and finally having her boy
Actress, model, and TV host Brooke Burke, 36, and her fiancé David Charvet, 35, confirmed earlier today that they are expecting a son in mid-March. In her latest blog, Brooke writes about her excitement over having a boy after three girls, and her baby shower, which she celebrated last Sunday. Unfortunately, the mood was tempered by news that Brooke must go on bed rest to avoid an early delivery, as happened with each of her daughters (Neriah was 5 weeks early, Sierra 3, and Brooke was induced with Rain at 38 weeks due to complications).
Hi,I am so sorry that I have not written for so long. I am officially on bed rest now and climbing the walls!!! I went to my doctor last week and learned I was two centimeters dilated with a thin cervix. I have been down that road before with Neriah. I delivered her 5 weeks early and she was only 4 ½ lbs. So the doctor put me on house arrest, no sex, and told me not to carry Rain.
I am not sure how I will get through this, but it is such an important time, so I am doing the best I can. It is nearly impossible to stay off my feet with three kids and David. I am trying and thank God I have made it through this past week. I am 35 weeks now, and hoping to make it to the end of the month.
My baby shower was Sunday; Stride Rite threw it for me. All my girls have been wearing their shoes since they could walk. I had so much fun with my girlfriends and family. I hardly needed anything since it is my fourth time around, but it was great to celebrate with everyone. We ate, drank, and laughed a lot. Hpnotiq created a "Bubbles n’ Blue" signature cocktail.
I am having a SON!!!!! We are thrilled beyond imagination. David has always desperately wanted a boy and I have been wishing for a son as well, all my life. Our home has been an estrogen pool, and full of pink, girly things. It is exciting to see all the blue stuff. None of us are quite sure what to do with a boy, but we are so happy and totally blessed. David is often complaining about needing some male energy, so now his wish will come true!
We’ll be having quite a bit of Brooke coverage in the coming days: Thursday, a peek at the baby shower gear and gifts; Friday, In Touch’s photospread and interview from inside the shower; and next Tuesday, look for our exclusive interview with Brooke, where she answers your questions.
Baboosh Baby, Brooke Burke’s new line of post-partum belly wraps, stretch-mark oils, organic t-shirts and recycled diaper bags, is named after the French term of endearment and is also Rain’s nickname. For more info, check out BabooshBaby.com.

I’m waiting for some huge controversy now because *OMG* David’s a male and wanted a son.
Sarah’s note: Not putting through any comments like that, I learned my lesson with the Oliver Hudson post last summer!

She sounds so excited to finally have her boy, can’t wait to see the little guy and hear his name. Sounds like she got some great stuff at her baby shower. She is one of the best looking preganant women, and her kids and fiance are all beautiful.

Okay, I’m confused! If Brooke’s doctor told her not to leave the house (or put her on “house arrest” as she put it), then why was she seen out walking with her family today?
Sarah’s note: It’s a modified bedrest. If you look in the comments on the post of them out walking, I left comment there.

What is this trend i’m seeing for companies to throw celebs baby showers. I think they and their friends have more than enough money to throw a regular shower.
As for them wanting a son, I think that is just natural after having 3 girls, nothing wrong with that. We have 3 boys and constantly are asked when we are “trying for that girl”. I love all my boys and happy to stop at 3. Someday maybe i’ll get a granddaughter.

Lisa – My MIL had 3 boys. From her 3 boys she has gotten 4 granddaugthers and only 1 grandson. And now she is complaining about wanting more boys!!

I am so happy for them, wonderful news about the son although I’m sure they would have been pleased either way, they seem like a super family and how lovely to have a son soon too
I hope Brooke has an easy end to the pregnancy and the little baby boy isn’t too eager to get out
p.s. I always wonder why companies throw celeb’s showers (giving away a lot of products) instead of just donating them to charities, shelters etc? This is not a criticism of Brooke, just wondering about the company sponsored shower?

Just wondering if Brooke tried those special tricks I read about in books and have heard from friends to conceive a boy? I am a mama of 3 girls and I adore them.. but I really would love to have a son too.. I plan on trying again in a few years and hopefully, I’ll be a mama to 3 girls and 1 boy… God Bless!

I understand wanting a boy. We have two beautiful girls- and I love that my girls have a sister- but I always imagined having a baby boy in my life. I’m due in May with our last baby and we’re on the ‘green team’- so we’ll have to wait to see who comes out. I know what Brooke means about being excited to add some blue things to the mix. Although we don’t know the sex of this baby, I have not been able to resist buying a few blue tiny baby clothes! But either way, we know we are blessed to be adding a new baby to our family!

I am happy that Brooke and David are so thrilled and excited about having a son to add to their clan of girls, but I also know that Brooke and David would as thrilled and excited if the the baby was another girl. I’m sure they wouldn’t get upset about it (if it was indeed another girl) as some people would. The only thing that matters is that they are blessed with a healthy baby. I’d like to have both boys and girls, but honestly, I don’t mind what I get, whether it’s all boy or all girls, or a mix of them. I just want to be blessed with a beautiful and healthy child.

I understand where she’s coming from about wanting a boy. I have a son, and although it’s unpopular to come right out and say it, I fully admit that I want a daughter next, and I likely will be disappointed if I have another son. Of course, I’ll get over it, but I know myself and I am sure I will initially be sad about it.
Good luck to Brooke to make it through until March. Hopefully she can get to at least 38 weeks. It has to be nerve-wracking knowing baby is ready to come when he’s not quite ready.

Take care of YOURSELF Brooke! Not a thing unnatural with wanting only one sex, OR both sexes in the house. Because we all know that the VERY SECOND you lay eyes on, and touch that baby you’re instantly in the deepest kind of love known.

I, too, want both sexes and am not afraid to admit that if I have a girl and then another girl (or two boys) that I will be disappointed … I will love all of my kids equally, but I don’t think there is anything wrong with wanting to experience raising both sexes.
My guy and I have discussed only having 2 kids and I asked well, what if we end up with two of the same. He said we’d stop there, but I am willingly to try once again and have 3. So **hopefully** that is something we won’t have to decide on … hopefully we’ll have 1 of each and then stop
I’m happy for Brooke .. that she is finally getting to have her son. I hope everything goes wonderfully with the birth.
