Sheryl Crow on motherhood and changes in life

Tags: News, Quotes

Singer Sheryl Crow holds her baby boy in her arms as she talks to Parade about the changes in her life; those which you have control over, and those which you do not. The most significant change to Sheryl’s life in the last year has been the birth of her son, Wyatt Steven, 10 months.

Sheryl, 46, and the interviewer sit in a studio in Manhattan, Wyatt in Sheryl’s arms. They watch a young boy running around near them.

I think he has the feeling that he’s going to be that big pretty soon. I have a feeling he’s going to be that big pretty soon.

Sheryl’s new album is a reflection of her new life and also of Wyatt’s influence on her. Particularly, the song Lullaby for Wyatt, which is obviously for her son. The powerful and double-edged line “Love is letting go,” is symbolistic of Sheryl’s realization that control, over oneself and others, is an elusive ideal.

The ideals that one has about family and life often includes marriage and children. For Sheryl however, the baby came first.

For my whole life, I had a pretty clear picture of what my life was supposed to be. I was supposed to have a big career but at the same time a husband, the house and the kids. That’s what I knew. That’s what a successful life consisted of.

A family doesn’t always look like girl meets boy, they fall in love, they get married, they have a kid. I said, ‘OK, I’m going to let go of what I think things are supposed to look like, because I can’t control anything. When I try to control things, that’s when I keep things from happening.’

Sheryl goes on to say that the introduction of Wyatt into her lifehas created a new atmosphere and a type of fulfillment she had neverbefore experience.

Two days beforeWyatt came, I finished a Stop Global Warming college tour. When a babycomes into your life, the environment becomes so personal. Having himaround, this little innocent spirit, really made me fearless aboutwriting what I wanted to write and about not being afraid of who I wasgoing to piss off. It created a lot of urgency about that.

She and Wyatt are so sweet together. That is one lucky baby. A mom who adores him and a big warm loving family for them to fall back on. And growing up on a farm in Tennessee instead of LA … mom makes good choices.

  2. fin Says:

i just wonder what’s her real name – some sources says crow, some – crowe..

Shannon’s note: Well her official website is http://www.sherylcrow.com so I presume that it’s Crow rather than Crowe! :)

  3. Jenny Says:

OMG!! She is a mother!! I saw her hot photos attached to a dating profile on the dating site where many tall models and celebrities hooking up, –Tallkiss.com. That must be a fake profile!!!

  4. Fan Says:

Check Sheryl’s new cd Detours. Not only does her nanny Marva get a thank you, she’s also credited for background vocals in one of the songs.

  5. Buzzkut Says:

If she was in the least way wise to what is right and wrong.. and scientifically aware at all on Global warming scam she would stop placing our country in danger of losing it’s healthy economy and putting a superior work force in the losing position of losing jobs, their homes and business, in fact the whole earth will suffer with great inflation and lack of food and needed resources.. It’s all a lie.
