Christina Aguilera considers breastfeeding a workout within itself

Christina_aguileraSongstress Christina Aguilera, 27, has been working to lose her baby weight after giving birth to son Max Liron on January 12th.  In the process, she has learned the best secret for her is breastfeeding.

I think they say that when you’re breastfeeding, you know, your weight kind of slims down. It’s a little easier. It’s like a workout within itself. It’s very tiring actually and you find yourself snacking more often.

Christina is married to music marketing executive Jordan Bratman, 30.

It truly is exhausting! Kudos to her for continuing.

I hope if I get pregnant again I can breastfeed. I know most of my friends that did lost the weight within 6 months and a few of them were even slimmer than before they got pregnant! Way to go Christina!

Breastfeeding really is the best for Mom and baby both; hopefully she’ll be able to feed Max until he’s a year old. I did for both my kids (well, they were a little over 1). You go, girl!

i’ve always wondered if mothers with implants were able to breastfeed. it’s still so weird to me though; i thought it would somehow compromise the baby’s health.

Sarah’s note: Many women now have saline water implants, same thing as in contact lens solution. Nothing that would hurt them. Anyhow, yes, BFing with implants is totally fine provided they don’t sever your milk ducts. Also, most docs will place the implant behind the muscle as not to interfere. Celebrity moms with implants that nurse their babies include Brooke Burke (who talked about it in her CBB interview), Pam Anderson, Gena Lee Nolin, Tori Spelling, and more.

why exactly is breastfeeding so exhausting??

  7. Pam Says:

It’s exhausting because breastmilk digests much faster than formula, so at first you are literally feeding them all the time. There were times I started nursing my son, he would eat for 45 minutes, then an hour and 15 minutes later he would want to eat again, because it has been 2 hours since we started the last feeding.

At night you are up a lot, because, again, breastmilk digests faster and they are hungry sooner.

It’s certainly much simpler once you get the hang of it and more convenient too, less time consuming once they get older, but I’m not going to be one of those moms who say it’s all sunshine and roses. It’s tough, it’s hard, it’s exhausting, it’s painful when you get mastitis. I nursed for 13 months and I know about the downsides. That’s why I am always happy to see celeb moms continuing with it. It’s very, very easy to give up if you’re not dedicated to it or it doesn’t come naturally for you or your baby. So bravo Christina.

Gia, as Pam said breastmilk is more easily digestible than formula, which is why Mom has to produce more. Breastfeeding uses up 500 or more calories per day, which is why women have to keep up their good nutritional habits. Also, I believe (correct me if I’m wrong) when the baby sucks, there is a hormone that releases that makes you feel sleepy. I know I felt that when I breastfed both of my children. Breastfeeding is definitely a workout in itself, trust me…
