"I was too emotional [when I was pregnant]. I cried at the drop of a hat. It’s Hallmark commercials, it’s anything you could possibly imagine. Not even Hallmark. It’s a coffee commercial, and they pick up [the cup of coffee] and I’d go [crying] ‘Ooooh, it’s coffee!’"

Lucy and Rhodri Owen welcome son Gabriel

BBC Wales presenter Lucy Owen, 36, and her husband Rhodri are proud new parents after welcoming their first child, a son. Gabriel Rhodri was born on Monday, March 10th, weighing in at 5 lbs, 12 oz. His birth is an especially happy ending for Lucy and Rhodri, who struggled to conceive for three years, finally succeeding with the assistance of IVF. The couple is said to be "over the moon" with the birth of their son.

Lucy and Rhodri, married since 2004, announced the pregnancy in September.

Ah, shame they didn’t go for a proper Welsh name. :) I wonder if Rhodri will raise him to be Welsh-speaking? I hope so…

    Llongyfarchiadau to them. :)

So happy to hear about people having children after such a struggle. Congratulations. Gorgeous name as well.

  3. Sanja Says:

    Congratulations! Wonderful news:-)

Was he born prematurelly? I’ve never heard of a full term boy being that small.

    Be thou blessed.

Sanja- He could very well have been full-term. I was actually slightly lighter than him when I was born, and although I was born two weeks early, I was still techincally full-term (”Full-term” is actually considered to be the three or so weeks of the pregnancy, rather than just 40 weeks.).

  6. CelebBabyLover Says:

Whoops! I meant to say “‘Full-term is actually considered to be the LAST three or so weeks of pregnancy…” NOT “the three or so weeks of pregnancy”! Last time I checked, pregnancy lasts a lot longer than three weeks! :)
