Carnie Wilson says she’s planning baby #2

Tags: Kids, News, Quotes

Although being pregnant with Lola Sofia, turning 3 next month, caused Carnie Wilson to gain back more than 50 of the 150 pounds she lost with gastric bypass surgery, the 39-year-old singer says she’s anxious to have another baby nonetheless.  Beforehand, however, Carnie says she’d like to return to her original pre-pregnancy size.

I’d like to lose 45 to 50 pounds and then try to get pregnant again. I know I will do it! I don’t consider myself a failure. I just got off track.

Everyone can see that I’€™m bigger, but I cannot hibernate. I’€™ve never lied or been dishonest about what’s going on in my life. Even all these years later, having had such a great weight-loss story, being back in this place is so familiar. And it hurts. I don’€™t want to feel this way anymore. It doesn’t feel good when you have to struggle to get your pants on.

Lola, who is "hysterically funny," is the first child for Carnie and her husband Rob Bonfiglio.

I think Carnie will be able to lose the weight and it would be great if she had another baby. Lola is a cutie, expecially those cute chubby legs:)

  2. brooke Says:

Yea she is in ok magazine this week, she got big again. She will lose it, but than after another pregnancy will probably gain it all back.

  3. Marie Says:

Getting off track isn’t impossible, but its great that she realizes it and is motivated to do something about it.

Her husbands name is Rob, not Ron by the way.

    Sarah’s note: Thanks, I’ll correct Missy’s post. :)

i don’t understand women who lose weight before they have a baby… you’re just going to gain all the weight back… i mean i can understand for MORBIDLY obese women cuz i know that it can be harder to conceive if you’re too obese… but i don’t really understand that logic…

  5. Vanessa Says:

Fay, ideally it’s not healthy for an overweight woman to get pregnant. A lot of complications can arise and it’s riskier for both mother and baby the heavier Mom is. Not to mention, if she gets in shape prior to getting pregnant hopefully she won’t have a problem dropping the post-baby weight after delivery.

  6. Judyb Says:

I am sure that there are some medical/psychological issues for pregnancy after a gastric bypass. I am sure that Carnie is discussing these with her doctor. I believe that she might have been considered morbidly obese before her gastric bypass.

  7. tink1217 Says:

fay, it is easier to actually get pregnant if you are closer to your ideal weight. And, since she is getting older it would help! We are doing IVF in May and I have dropped almost 30 pounds and will drop another 15 before that to up our chances of success and lower our chances of having yet another miscarriage (I have had 9 with no explanation why).

Although my doctor said my weight isn’t the cause of my miscarriages, I want to be as healthy as possible beforehand. Probably what Carnie wants too. Why not be as healthy as possible before getting pregnant?? It makes the pregnancy smoother and the delivery too. Way to go Carnie!!

  8. J.J. Says:

Yea I agree with tink1217, it’s wise to be as healthy as possible before getting pregnant, that way it’s less likely that problems would arise too. Glad to hear that Carnie wants another baby because her daughter is beautiful.

  9. Judyb Says:

Tink good luck with your IVF. I’m sending good thoughts your way.

  10. BluePencils Says:

I lost over 125 pounds five years ago, and I put some back on in the last year (about twenty pounds–darn happiness after getting married!) and I was hoping to lose weight before getting pregnant. I wasn’t starving myself, I hoped to lose a pound a week or so with a sensible diet and running, which is how I lost most of the weight the first time. I didn’t expect to get pregnant quickly as I’m 41 years old.

Well, I got pregnant the first month. Yes, it happens. I put on too much weight my first trimester, it’s really easy to put on weight at my age and with my history. Also when you have constant terrible nausea and can only eat carbs.

Now I’m going to have to try my best to watch it while eating healthfully for the rest of the pregnancy, and lose the weight when the baby’s born. But the important thing is to grow a healthy baby, so I’m not worrying about it too much. And my husband thinks I’m beautiful whatever size I am–and he’s not just saying that, either. I’m a lucky woman.

  11. Gabbie13 Says:

As a person who struggles with weight and knows from family history that I will most likely gain weight with a pregnancy, I made the choose to loose before trying to concieve.
I lost 43 lbs and feel much better about myself! I can honestly go into a pregnancy now without that “extra weight” on my shoulders knowing that instead of starting out 40lbs overweight and adding another 30-40 lbs on top of that I will start out where I should and gain the regular pregnancy weight and not be so bad off in the end.
This is just me, but this might be why Carnie feels she needs to loose weight ahead of time too!
Who knows, but good luck to her!

    Wow, her daughter is adorable!!
