Charlize Theron says ‘my biological clock is ticking’
Charlize Theron is slowly working through her pregnancy issues, it seems! While earlier comments from the 32-year-old actress on the topic drew fire from CBB readers and even Babytalk magazine, Charlize appears to have softened her stance, telling InTouch that she’s "ready to take on the responsibility of motherhood" and longtime boyfriend Stuart Townsend is the man she wants "to share parenthood with." She adds,
I’ve been thinking about becoming a mom for a couple of years now…My biological clock is ticking, but it hasn’t gone off yet.
I couldn’t hope for my career to be going any better, and I have found the great love of my life in my relationship, so I think we’re ready to start having kids running around the house.

Good for Charlize. I have to say after reading her old comments regarding her misgivings about pregnancy, I have to agree with her that some of the physical changes can be scary. Pregnancy can be a confusing process that ends in a wonderful result, but the ride isn’t always smooth for many women, me included.
At 15 weeks with my first, it has already been A LOT harder than I expected. The acne, nosebleeds, and severe morning sickness that made me go on Zofran were all a surprise and disconcerting.
Pregnancy is a miracle, but it isn’t all rainbows and magic fairy dust every day. If we can’t be sympathetic to one another, then how can we expect the rest of the world to understand and appreciate how hard (and miraculous) pregnancy and motherhood can be?!

Good for you !!! It’s good to not postpone things till they can’t happen (like we see these days with lots of celebs) Even though 32 is still young, it’s harder and harder to get pregnant once you hit 30 and more

Charlize shouldn’t worry about it too much, especially being a celebrity and being rich to afford anything if she had trouble. Look at all the celebrities being moms in their 30’s and 40’s, halle, salma, jlo, jennifer garner, heidi klum, tori spelling, mariska, gwen stefani, and a lot of average people I know had kids fine in their 30’s and 40’s too.

Funny you should say that Brooke, because I live in NYC and I don’t know ANYBODY who had babies in their 20’s! I had my first just before I turned 31 and people thought I was such a young mom. My doctor even said I was one of his youngest patients at the moment. People really put off motherhood here because of their careers, I guess. It’s so interesting how perspectives on these things changes wherever you live.

Nicka, acne is something I really worry about if I ever am lucky enough to fall pregnant. I know it may sound shallow, but it really affected my self esteem and day to day life (before I went on the pill to control it).
Does anyone know of anything you can do to control pregnancy skin flare ups? I know I would be on those unlucky pregnant women that gets it!

Her previous comment made me laugh. I have to admit, I shared her opinion! Pregnancy isn’t for everyone. I looked/felt like a whale but now have a great -and large- little boy to show for it. Totally worth it!
And Nikka, every woman is different. I read all the horror stories about how hard it is to get pregnant in your 30s. At 35, it took one time (just like they warn you back in high school!!).

I think Charlize has expressed her feelings in a very open and honest way. Family planning is very personal.
I think many women are choosing to have children in their 30’s and 40’s. Woman used to be told that they needed to have their children by their mid 30’s. Now, with the advances in medicine and technology women can have healthy babies in their 30’s, and 40’s. I think it is wonderful that women have more choices when it comes family planning.
Nicka, sorry to hear that you are having problems. The first trimester was the hardest time for me too. I think there are times in every woman’s pregnancy when she wonders why she wanted to do this and when will it be over. LOL You should start feeling better as you get into your second trimester.

Charlize just do it, if you are afraid to do childbirth then just book a cesarean that’s all. Women are allowed to choose these things these days and no one will look down on you for it. Stuart will be so proud and will love you more than he ever did before I promise you that!
