"I was too emotional [when I was pregnant]. I cried at the drop of a hat. It’s Hallmark commercials, it’s anything you could possibly imagine. Not even Hallmark. It’s a coffee commercial, and they pick up [the cup of coffee] and I’d go [crying] ‘Ooooh, it’s coffee!’"

Elisabeth Röhm celebrates her baby shower

Elisabethrohm00003_cbb_3Relaxed and barefoot, former Law & Order star Elisabeth Röhm celebrated her baby shower at a pal’s home in Beverly Hills, CA on Wednesday, March 12th. Sponsored by Gymboree,  guests such as Nia Long, Alicia Coppola, and Tasha Smith were pampered with manicures from Bliss spa and enjoyed smoothies and cupcakes from organic baby food company Tastybaby. The 34-year-old Big Shots actress has shared previously that daughter Easton is due on April 28th, which is also Elisabeth’s 35th birthday.

I don’t know what the statistic is for people delivering on their due date. (CBB note: About 5%.) It’s almost too good to be true that she could have my birthday.

Accompanied to the shower by fiancé Ron Wooster, whom she will wed in September, Elisabeth dished on him and waiting to meet their daughter.

Ron’s really sweet and giving … that probably makes you want to puke! I feel my daughter’s presence all the time and wish I could hold her today. I’m so ready to love her.

My due date was also my mother’s birthday but since that fell on a Saturday and her doctor didn’t do repeat C-Sections on the weekend she picked the Wednesday, 3 days before her birthday in hopes that she would be home and able to have cake on her birthday.

  2. Elizabeth Morrison Says:

Does anyone know what it means, exactly, to have a shower “sponsored” by a company (in this case, Gymboree)?

I understand the basic concept, but I’m curious as to whether it’s the company or the celebrity who initiates the sponsorship, and what is gifted or sponsored materialistically.

    Just wondering.

  3. Beverley Says:

I think that it means that the companies provide money and gifts to the celebrity or the guests so that they get their name in any write-up on sites like this and in any magazines that may cover the event. It’s like a TV show which says “promotional consideration provided by the following”. The celebrity basically gets it all free just for crediting the company. The companies are buying publicity for their businesses. As far as I am aware, usually the company initiates the arrangement of the deal.

I think it’s tacky that the people who need the money the least are getting it for free. They can afford to pay for their showers and buy stuff themselves but are getting it for free. How about making a donation to a charity in the name of the celebrity or in honor of the new baby? That would be a lot more meaningful and classy.

  4. Regan Says:

I really do not like the name Easton Wooster. Easton is cute, but not with that last name. Oh well, best of luck Miss Easton Wooster!

  5. Judyb Says:

I love that little dress, it is so cute.

You are not supposed to throw your own shower so I doubt if she initiated the sponsorship. I would think that the sponsorship was worked out between the sponsor and the person hosting the shower. I wonder if this type of sponsored shower is popular among celebrity’s? I have never been to a shower where the guest got manicures. We play games like measure the mom’s belly with toilet paper. I guess I need to get some new friends. LOL

  6. Nikka Says:

My aunt had two of her kids on her bday and one other on her husband’s bday (and one on mine) but they have 7 kids total so the chances were huge LOL

  7. Emily Says:

I remember Tupperware sponsored Tori Spelling’s first shower, and Stride Rite did Brooke Burke’s. I think it’s pretty common in Hollywood?

Her fiance is pretty cute. I don’t think I’d seen him before. Good luck to Elisabeth!

  8. heather Says:

I delivered my second daughter on her due date. I didn’t realize the statistic was so low at 5%. Then again, isn’t a “due date” nothing more than a good guess? That’s how I saw it anyway.

Anyway…. cute gymboree dress! Might be going to get that. Good luck to them on their daughter’s arrival!

  9. Crystal Says:

I didn’t know the chances were so low for having your kid on the due date. I knew it was low… but not that low!
I did have a teacher in high school that had two kids and the boy was born on feb 2 and the little girl was born 3 years later on feb 2 (i think it was 3 years).
I thought that was rather odd! But sweet too :)

  10. Julia A Says:

My brother was born one day after my dad’s birthday. My mom always jokes that he must have smelled the cake and decided to come out early and join the party.

  11. terri Says:

I was born on my due date. My sisters were both 2 days late.

  12. BluePencils Says:

I think having a “sponsored” baby shower is tacky, unless there’s something about it I don’t know. Seems better to me when rich celebrities, who are receiving so many gifts anyway, have charity showers, like Nicole Richie.

I like Elizabeth’s dress though–anyone know the brand?

  13. cindy Says:

I have three children. The first was born on her due date (probably because after tests the doctor told me if she wasn’t born before we would induce on that day) My son was born four days late, and our third, another girl, was 16 days early. The funny thing to me is that their personalities all seem to go along with that…Miss right on time, Mr. “Laidback”, and Miss can’t wait for what’s next! =)

  14. Jessica Says:

I dont think it is tacky at all. I also saw this on Entertainment Tonight last week and it looked so incredibly beautiful. I would absolutely love to have Gymboree throw me a baby shower…

  15. Lisa Says:

I have three kids, all delivered natural. two of them share the same birthday. My son was born on 4/22/00, and my daughter on 4/22/03. My other daughter was born this year on 2/20/08, I was hoping for 2/22/08, so they all would share the number 22 :)

  16. Francis Says:

Who cares about whether the party was or wasn’t sponsored- the point is, it looks super cute! I love the fact that they used Tastybaby to do the food for adults, how fantastic is that!

  17. Rachel Maynard Says:

My sister was born the day before our fathers birthday and i was born six days after our moms birthday and my brother was born 2 days after i turned five. we are all june and july in our family.
