Kate Hudson on missing sleep and sounding like your own parents

Tags: Ha ha, News, Quotes

Ryder Russell Robinson’s mind is always turning. Mom Kate Hudson shares, "He has all these ideas. I’m writing everything down — the things he says are so amazing." Of course, there are times the 28-year-old actress wishes her 4-year-old son would quiet down — and she’s willing to bargain for the chance!

I miss sleep! When you become a parent, you don’t get to sleep anymore. I don’t think I’ve slept in four years. You do that thing where you negotiate with the kid. I’m like, "Please, Ryder. I’ll put on ‘Curious George’ if you just let Mommy sleep for another hour. Please!" Even if you’re sleeping, though, you always have one eye open and one ear listening.

Despite her best intentions, Kate laughs that it’s hard not to repeat favorite phrases from her own childhood when she’s at the end of her rope.

You can’t escape [sounding like your own mom]. My favorite one is, "Because I said so." That’s a big one. You say that more often than you’d like.

Click below for Kate’s best parenting advice.

Kate says the most best parenting advice she can think of is to simply go with the flow and make sure your child is happy.

With parenting, there are no real answers. Instinctually, you do theright thing; it happens the way it’s supposed to. Do the best you can.Everybody goes through difficulties with parenting. We all go throughthe joys of it and we go through the difficulties of it. It’s thegreatest journey.

At the end of the day, you just hope your child ishappy. When you see your kid happy, you realize there’s nothing else onthe planet you’d rather be doing at that moment. That’s the greatestreward.
