Jennifer Garner’s Mommy Makeover — Week 1: Clothes

Jennifer Garner is quite possibly the quintessential "non-celebrity" celebrity. What we mean by this is that she doesn’t buy into all the glitz and glamour the way other celebs do. And for this we absolutely adore her, it’s her down-to-earth attire and attitude that make her one of our most-loved celebrity moms. But we have to admit there are times when we wonder what she would look like if she ditched her casual mom attire for something a bit more "style-ized"!

Play Date Pretty

Jennifer has admitted herself that she’s not a fashionista, though she cleans up nicely for the red carpet and always looks casual and comfy when out and about in "mom" mode. We think if she infused a couple of spring’s hottest trends into her basic style, she’d still feel comfy and casual but look amazing.

Let’s start with a trench coat. We know Jennifer Garner is never going to step out for playing with Violet in anything that is too outlandish. But the trench coat is a HUGE trend for spring and she can take her pick of bright, or more subdued, colors. We, personally, think the pink color of Juicy Couture’s Skirted Trench Coat (right, $348) is pretty, girly and the perfect punch of color that Jennifer’s wardrobe could use.

Tunics were big last year and will continue to be popular this year. Since our jacket pick for Jennifer was on the "loud" side, we’ll bring some balance to the ensemble with a simple top. This Halogen Lace Trim Printed Tunic (left, $78) is sheer perfection! Paired with a nice pair of denim, we picture Jennifer hitting the farmer’s market or any play date for that matter in simple style.

Supposedly high-waisted denim is trying to make a comeback this year. We seem to remember this trend trying the same thing last year, and not going anywhere. So we’ll stick with a basic boot cut jean for Jennifer. Paige Premium Denim’s Hidden Hills (right, $178) jeans come in a beautiful deep blue denium called Barcelona Blue that would look fab on Jennifer. Plus, Paige Adams-Gellar (creator of Paige Premium Denim) was the "model body" that brands like 7 For All Mankind, Lucky Brand, Citizens of Humanity, Guess and others used to mold their denim — apparently she knows jeans!

With her outfit almost complete, we had to find the right shoes for Jennifer. We didn’t even check out any heels, because that would just not fly with this on-the-run momma! Instead we stuck to something on the flat side, like Me Too Nyle1 in pink (left, $83). This shoe will bring the pink of the trench coat above out nicely, and be a nice flair to any basic outfit, sans the pink trench. And of course, they’re flat and will let her chase after little Violet Anne Affleck in perfect style.

Date Night Diva

We know Jennifer can hit the red carpet in high style with the best of them! But what we don’t ever see is this beautiful mom out on the town for a date night with her hottie husband, Ben Affleck. But if we did see her out for a date night, we’d hope to see her in this Tory Burch Rosario Dress (right, $450, which was worn by Penn Jillette’s wife on Dancing with the Stars!). The pretty, clean white color would look great as the warmer temps sweep in and the jeweled neckline with appliqué detail is dressy enough for nighttime wear.

The beauty of the dress above is that it will work with virtually any shoe — The jeweled neckline is a bit much for a pair of sneakers, but any dress flats will look great. The Tory Burch Reva Ballet Logo Flat (left, $195) in metallic silver is a perfect choice! The ornamental detail helps to accentuate the dressiness of the dress. Best of all, if Jennifer wants she can pick up this shoe in any combination of colors and really have some fun with her statement.

When going with a metallic look like this, it’s important to go minimalist in accessories. A simple clutch bag in a pretty silver color will complete the look nicely. The Charles David Cleo Clutch (right, $165) would tie in nicely with our pick of dress and shoe for Jennifer.
