J.K. Rowling says daughter saved her life
Just over a decade ago, when she found herself on the brink of homelessness and battling depression, author J.K. Rowling contemplated suicide. But the creator of the Harry Potter franchise — now worth an estimated $1 billion — says that it was daughter Jessica Isabel, 14, who kept her from harming herself and instead motivated the 42-year-old author to turn her life around.
The thing that made me face the fact that this was not a normal state that I was in was probably my daughter. She was something that earthed me, grounded me, and I thought, ‘This isn’t right, this can’t be right, she cannot grow up in this state.’
Jessica is J.K.’s daughter from a previous marriage. J.K. is now married to Neil Michael Murray, with whom she has two children — David Gordon, who turned 5 yesterday, and Mackenzie Jean, 3.

unfortunately… i can relate to this. however, no matter what’s gone through my head over the years, or what problems i’ve gone through~ knowing that only *i* can raise them, and that they need a normal, structured life, has always helped me push on, straighten up, get the help i need, etc… i can think of no better “grounding” than a person’s child/ren.
i’m thrilled to hear that j.k. was able to overcome, with the help of her daughter.

She is my huge inspiration. I want to (one day) figure out such a break through she had with her writing. She is an example, that no matter how you feel today, tomorrow will alwyas be better. Id like to write a book. Maybe i should write a story about a young wizzard ….lol… or continue with my online knitting store
no, my bottom point is that everyone has something special and they can find out and utilize that to turn things around (rather then sit and home and cry)
p.s i haven’t read any harry potter as of yet but i saw two (i think) movies. I recall that only her daughter has been shown (i dont recall her other kids)
