Mountain Aven Baby: Making babies hip, one appliqué at a time

OK, I admit it.  I’m obsessed with Etsy. Like, not mildly obsessed … Like, laying-in-bed-at-night-wondering-what-new-and-insanely -cute-stuff-will-be-waiting-for-me-to-view-over-my-morning-coffee, obsessed. I have to say that among my all-time Etsy favorites thus far is Mountain Aven Baby. Designer Blair Stone’s style must mesh perfectly with mine, because I find just about every single item for sale in her Etsy shop adorable and perfect for our two little boys.  We recently sampled a few of her appliquéd tees and — suffice it to say — Mountain Aven Baby didn’t disappoint.

Blair sent us a long-sleeved ‘rocket ship’ tee in white and a short-sleeved ‘little camper’ teein brown (see above left; both $18). Blair sews on the appliqués witha zig-zag stitch for quality and detail, and it definitely helps tomake the appliqués pop. The tees washed up well; After several machinewashes we see no signs of fraying or fading of the appliqués.  Unlike asilk-screened tee with a catchy saying, these tees do all their talkingwith big, bold images that celebrate the individuality of the kidwearing them. They’re so unique and so fun that they attract a lot of attention — We’re asked about these tees wherever we go.  And who doesn’t get a kick out of that?       

With new designs for spring like pink jumping jacks, juicy jungle (see right), aloha lounge and blue planet,Mountain Aven Baby really does have a little something for everybody –boy or girl, big or small. And besides the wide variety of appliquédesigns, Blair offers a nice variety of styles. Tees are available inlong and short-sleeve, and besides being sold individually they’re alsosold as lounge sets with coordinating bottoms of either pants, caprisor long shorts. Speaking of, bottoms are trimmed with grosgrain ribbonand all seams are professionally finished. Lounge sets are availablein sizes 0-6mo – 2T; Tee and onesie designs go from 0-6mo – 6T. Thetees tend to run small, however, so when in doubt order up a size.
