Wallis is a kanton in Switzerland. A kanton is like a state in the US (like she would be called Alabama, Nevada, etc.). For example the famous sking resort Zermatt lies in Wallis.
I’m sure she is not named after the kanton but it’s funny nevertheless. I’d tip that it is a Welsh name.

I have never heard the name “Wallis” before. Does anyone know how it is pronounced?? Is it the same as the male name “Wallace”?
