Seventh Generation soap is a great soap for cleaning windows. Most detergents that ive used are really harsh on the hands. I run a window cleaning company and switched to using seventh generation soap in my solution and my hands are a lot better at the end of the day.

Although its not mentioned in this post, my favorite is Sound Earth. It's effective, safe, and smells great. The purest ingredients are used in this stuff. Manufactured in the USA to boot! If you really want green, go with this brand.

Bio-enviro is amazing and has outperformed many products on the market today. Werther it be ingredients, disclosure, it's diversity, money saving. The list just goes on and on.....

Here is a suggestion: much easier and pleasant scent way to accomplish all of the above!

Bio-Enviro is economically priced and inexpensive to use the "Concentrated Formula" ~ makes gallons of cleaner for pennies, www.bio-enviro.com

Yes, Bio-Enviro is effective on any surface. Clean and Deodorize: floors, walls, bathrooms, kitchens, tile, spot and stain remover, and you can even do laundry with the it! While the product is effective on keeping incests and pests from the environment of it's use as well. No product on the market can compare to this.

This comments is to respond to what Amanda said about the Melaleuca products. Melaleuca has never and never will test their products on animals. I hold a personally signed letter attesting to that.
Which other company gives you a letter like that?
Melaleuca walks their talk - they have for the past 23 years.
Many companies today are green-washing their products by falsely informing the public their products are bio-degradable - they forget to mention how long. Chlorine is bio-degradable - it just takes 300 years!!!!

Both Method and 7th Gen. are NOT suitable for cloth diapers. Not all F&C are the same. The cheaper detergents and store brands work best because they do not have those "extra" ingredients like whiteners and softeners. I use Purex F&C. Charlies Soap and Country Save are two of the most popular brands.

You don't want to soak diapers becuase it will breed oders and bacteria. Dry pail works best!!!

I LOVE Methods cleaners but they are not completely ecofriendly because they don't have refill bottles and they have a few different wipes, which create a lot of waste. They should make a diluted refill that could help with that. I will try making my own for now on. Thanks so much for the recipes!!

If we ALL did a few ecofriendly things it would make a HUGH impact on our earth!!

I have been shopping with Melaleuca and love their products so much I started helping others shop with them, too. Now, as a Mom, I am able to stay home with my girls and earn an income while helping other moms go green!
Their products work so well, I don't have to make my own any more and don't have to worry about paying to much or harsh chemicals. :)

this guide is great! As a consumer advocate for method, I have to say how much I love their products! And they've published a book! Keep an eye out for their fantastic book "Squeaky Green" that hits shelves in June, I believe. It's a step by step guide to detoxing your home. Good stuff. I also love 7th Generation. I'm not a fan of Melaleuca though, b/c they're not cruelty-free and that is a must for me.

About the cloth dipes, I have a friend who does the dry pale (no soaking, just a quick rinse for poopy dipes). And on wash day, she uses a teeny tiny amount of fragrance free detergent. Both method & 7th generation make "free & clear" laundry detergents. hope that helps...
