Australian national soccer team members to welcome five babies in June
With three big matches in June, the Australian national soccer team is poised to play without four of its biggest players — who themselves are poised to welcome five babies. Lucas Neill, who captains the team known as the Socceroos, and his partner Lindsey Morris (pictured at left) are expecting twins, while striker Josh Kennedy and midfielders Jacob Burns and Mile Sterjovski are also expecting June arrivals. Socceroos coach Pim Verbeek called the situation "tricky" and said he’ll pull players from his country’s A-League to ensure that Australia has a full roster for each of the pivotal games.
We have four players at the moment [whose] wives or girlfriends are pregnant and the babies are all coming in June so I have to be prepared for letting players go because the baby is coming or the baby has arrived.
