I Bought It: Readers tell us about their CBB-inspired purchases: Focus on strollers

Tags: I Bought It!

We know that CBB Readers love to shop via the site so we asked everyoneto tell us what they’ve bought based on what they’ve seen on the site-photos, reviews, ads, giveaways, etc. There were quite a few readers who told us they had purchased strollers after reading about them on CBB so I decided to dedicate a special edition of I Bought It! to strollers.

Here is my daughter Charlie Faith in her Valco TriMode stroller with Bassinet purchased from TotsOnTheGo.comShe loves it and I do too. I love the stroller because, essentially, Ican use it carrying three kids all at once because of the toddler seat attachment and the "hitchhiker" stepping stool type of part that you can attach to the back of the stroller. It was a great investment.

I also bought "My Baby Nest"carrier but don’t have a picture. I’m always in your shop section ofthe website looking at what’s new and what things I could buy for mydaughter.

I would like to start off by saying that I absolutely love your site!! It has been the first that I go to every morning, and it has been that way for over two years now. :) There have been soooo many products that we have bought as a result of being influenced by your site…

We have the same Bugaboo Cameleon combo as Violet Grohl (pink/grey)! I knew that I wanted this exact stroller before I was even pregnant, and it has lived up to every expectation! I LOVE LOVE LOVE it!!!!!!!!!! It is gorgeous, and modern, and pink, and stylish, and it handles amazingly! :) I love that it fits our urban life. I love that it stands out and catches everyones eye. I love that not very many have it (most we see are the frog). I love that in a few years we can update it by changing fabrics and still be current in the ever changing baby market. Have I mentioned that I love it?! I am considering getting the pink Bee for our daughter is older, so that the next baby can have this stroller.

I went to the Giggle store immediately after reading your review on the Stokke Xplory. This was over a year ago and my daughter (and I) absolutely love it!

The stroller is also so unique looking that every time we go anywhere we get so many stares and people "oooohing" and "ahhhhing" and coming up to us asking questions. I just love how smooth the ride is and having the height advantage. When we go to the zoo or a museum my daughter has a much better view of things compared to children in "regular" strollers. We also use it as a high chair in restaurants and although it does not fold up as easily and quickly as another type of stroller, it is still quite simple and fits in our little Prius! Thank you for writing about it otherwise I would have never known it existed!

After being sucked in by the hype of an overweight and oversized "travel system" with my first son in 2000, I mentally prepared a list of must-haves for the next go round. I disliked that the standard style would not recline flat and I could not see the baby without stopping and walking in front of the stroller. Also, at 5’8", I found myself slumping slightly to reach the handlebar.

I found everything I wanted in a Bumbleride Flyer. I first saw a review from Mommies with Style on CBB more than a year before my second son, Sebastian, was born, and I bookmarked the site thinking it was worth a look when I needed a stroller again.

First to draw me in was the reversible handle, which is also height adjustable. The back reclines completely flat, allowing it to be used as a carriage during the early months. There is no need to remove the seat to reverse it; everything can be done on the fly. The fabrics are fun and funky, straying away from the more typical baby prints. I bought it in Cosmo, which appears to be no longer available. And if I got tired of the print, I could buy a new cover and reinvent the stroller!

BumblerideflyerOur Flyer went to Europe with us, navigating the crowded streets of Copenhagen with ease. The reversible handle meant that I could keep an eye on Sebastian without worrying about him accidentally getting bumped by people walking past. The big rubber wheels tread over cobblestone, bricks, and on and off train cars. The large sunshade kept him cozy for naps. And home again, at Christmas-time, pulling the sunshade back provided an extra pocket for packages at the mall.

It’s not perfect, I do miss having a cup holder, and the storage basket is partially blocked by a support bar (they fixed this in the 2007 model). But finding a chic stroller for around $300 that covered 95% of my experienced mom wish list is well worth the small sacrifice.

Bobrevolutiondualliered_2Wedon’t have very many high-end boutiques where I live, so we don’t oftensee any of the latest and greatest in baby products.  That’s why I fellin love with your site when I had my daughter 2.5 years ago.  Based onwhat we saw on CBB — we purchased the Bob Revolution Duallie(which is the double stroller).  We LOVE IT!  LOVE IT LOVE IT!  I amsure people think I am having an affair considering how often I talkabout my love for BOB! [Read our review of the double here and the single here.]

Also we recently purchased the Kaboost as an alternative to abooster seat — again, we LOVE IT!  My daughter loves the freedom of(safely) getting up and down on her own, and yet she can sit at anappropriate height like the rest of us!

The Stokke Xplory is by far my favorite. I totally agree with Maria – in that her baby can have a much better view of the world. There is so much for kids to learn out and about, you got to give them a good point of view.

  2. Jeanette Says:

I have strongly considered buying an Orbit, Stokke Explory and others I have seen on CBB. If anyone has tested both these and/or others and has advice, I am open to it!

Jeannette, We have reviewed the Orbit, the Stokke Xplory and many more. Just click my name below or copy and paste this link: http://celebritybabies.typepad.com/reviews/gear_strollers/index.html

    I want that Quinny Buzz!!

  5. Patricia Mital Says:

I have both, Quinny Buzz and Bugaboo….Both are my life saver. Excellent strollers highly recommended. I have Quinny in my car – super easy to fold and unfold, you can attach car seat or bassinet which we are using right now and will be switching to regular seat around next month. Bugaboo is our home stroller for longer walks around subdivision or parks. My dad’s favourite for his couple hours lasting walks with little grandson.

  6. mary Says:

Jeanette, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND the orbit stroller. It is without a doubt, the easiest to fold up. In factn, you can do so with only 1 hand (unlike the bugaboo which I owned prior to). The ride I find is smoother than the bugaboo as well. The fact that the seat rotates every 90 degrees is fantastic and I definitely make use of that feature quite a bit!
I could go on and on…but between the bugaboo and orbit–GO FOR THE ORBIT (even though it ends up being a bit pricier…it is worth it)
